This may be the worst game I ever got sucked into playing.

I grinded, I spent, both my kids quit months ago which is the only reason I ever started playing to begin with. Kept going, kept grinding, terrible executive decision after another. Suck me back in and tell me the point cuz I spent a shit ton of time on this disaster...

You had bonding time with your kids out of it? Those are experiences that are timeless. Grind em out games aren't for everyone. It's okay to start and stop. Or just play every time there's an event.

Like with any online game, MMO, this game, if you aren't having fun, it's probably time to take a break...

I'm sure like with any online MMORPG, you spend literally years playing in the world and changes, nerfs, your char is unplayable, etc...felt like you wasted all the time...A lot of people use the term they "invested" in their characters, but ultimately, it's important to have some balance where you play optimally, but try to enjoy it during the way as well...I also think investing isn't the correct term since there is no payout when playing these.

For a lot of folks, they are just happy to walk a lot more for health (that's been nerfed with rare candy and less need to hatch eggs), but the health benefits are still there for some folks who still walk and catch and hatch.

I see mostly drivers in my area and people who used to walk mostly drive to play now...

This is probably why I don't play any MMORPG or anything online really...Get too addicted and can't stop or feel like I am going to fall behind other people if I can't play all day.

If changes make you hate the changes, just stop spending for 1, and scale back or take a break...

I never really grinded (sit at a stop and catch nonstop), and we enjoyed the raids initially and did like 8 in a day or something (we all hoarded our gym coins mostly so could spend on passes)...

Wife seems to be losing interest on most raids already...

Definitely agree with you on the less walking part now, they need to rename the game "pokemon drive to the next raid and sit".

Wife and I used this game as an good excuse to get a daily walk in. The fun was in hatching the eggs and hoping for that rare pokemon and then walk it for the candies Now that you can basically just catch a fully evolved Ttar and you don't need good defenders anymore, the thrill of the hatch is gone. Plus not getting the 100 coins/day to feed the incubator kitty is another slap in the face so we haven't been taking our daily walks.

Completely agree. The reason I used to prefered PoGo over Ingress was that here it was useful to walk from gym to gym. If you had to place a defender, you could go their leisurely at any time you felt like having a walk, catching and hatching on the way. But now this is pointless, and raids require you to show up at a specific time. To make matters worse, all the quite, far out gyms are useless now. No more hikes to the monastery on the hill.

Dude, don't live a life of regret, look forward. No one made you do what you did so don't look backwards.

The game isn't great now so find something that suits you. Time is precious!

I'm looking to move on as well to make the best use of my time. But no regrets for me.

If feel you on that one. All these comments are literal shit IMO.
They had the fcking pokemon brand in their hand with millions of people's childhood dream and they throw them into shit with last update.
Everyone was lookin forward to this gym rework and what we have is worse then we had...
Only thing better is spoofers cant harm you now but that should not be even a thing in first place if they just fixed their shitty game right way...
I feel the same and i hope they somehow clean this mess and make something playable for few more years to come.
All i we have is a shitty game and some hope at this point...

I've stopped taking it seriously on the competitive side since the unpredictable move rebalances. It's impossible to develop an optimal team without having it changed later on. I do have to give some credit to Niantic with the raid bosses and being able to change moves with TMs. I am still salty about their past decisions, but I believe there is still hope for the game.

Ask yourself, do I love this game? What do I get out of it? If the answers are "No" and "Nothing", you should probably take a break.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of games that might be a better fit, including Pokemon games. Life is too short to hate what you do (work... and/or play!)

In my case, the answers are "yes" and "a lot", including exercise motivation/weight loss, fun/stress relief, quality family time....

Pokemon Go was NEVER a great game. It was a great activity. Arguably, the main problem (outside of spoofers) that the game used to have was that it TRIED to be a competitive game to the point that it was becoming a hardcore players only game, when in reality it was always meant to be a fun family oriented activity with a little bit of a competitive element.

Pokemon Go was dying and now it has been resurrected to some extent. It is far from perfect, but I am seeing lots of increased activity in my town and people are mostly having fun with the raids. Sure, the competitiveness is almost gone now, but it might return in some form down the line.

(1) This is the first and only game that make me go out and walk, even during winter time. I rarely watch TV since last July.

(2) With the raids, this game forces me meet real people. This is good for me too.
