Greedy Niantic

They will let you fight a lel 3 raid boss by yoursel and a level 4. Most people cant beat the Arcanine at level 3 because you do not know when the Charge move is coming. Nobody can win level 4 raid boss solo. YET Niantic will keep that $1. Many people have wasted money without knowing this.

Sorry dude. I've got a lot of criticism of Niantic, but this is entirely, 100% on the players who think they can solo a Rank 4 Raid Boss. When the estimated number of trainers needed to take one down is 17 (like with a Charizard), you have to be an absolute moron to think you can do it solo.

Maybe - MAYBE - Niantic could make a bit bigger recommendation message when you're looking at the loading screen. Maybe they could make it stand out more. But it's there - I saw it right away when I logged in to my first Raid battle. It was plain and obvious and I was under no illusion that I could do it Solo.

So no. Can't agree with your post in any way.

I mean they kind of also hint at the difficulty when they flash that huge CP up there.

Some dude died last week jumping of Niagra Falls again. Damn Niantic did it I say.

Agreed. I can imagine it's probably happened, but those who have seriously tried to solo a level 4 raid (outside of those who know the risk and have tried anyway) have got to be a tiny minority. Even then, chances are they will have used their free raid pass so no real money lost.

I'll admit I tried a Venusaur, mostly because I hadn't realized the jump-up in power. I'd easily blown through level 1 and 2s, and figured 4 would be a tough challenge but doable. I got him almost halfway down, and that was it. With two trainers it may have been possible.

My biggest complaint is I have no idea if I'm soloing or not until I burn a timer. I would much prefer if I knew ahead of time if it was a waste. I live/work in a fairly isolated area, albeit not far from a city, but I have no incentive to even waste a timer on a 4, and instead feast one 1s for the easy items. And also that it seems I see nothing but 1s and 4s, with a single 2. I've yet to see a 3 spawn near me.

I have to agree. If the trainer want to go all Leroy Jenkins they certainly can. Not Niantic fault at all.

Well to be fair, in every raid is a recommended group size. If you stick to the recommandation you defently beat the boss. It is kinda obvious that you cant beat the boss solo, since the raids were meant to be a koop feature and not solo content.

Remember, you get a raid pass for FREE everyday so as much complaints as I spew, I agree that going into a level 4 tier with no one around is a risk the player takes now...It probably isn't a $1 since it was a free pass...wife and me did one and no one was around, we lost of course, but it was a free pass...

YES, they should let you see the lobby FIRST, but maybe that can change later.

Based on my Level 4 raid today, I'm starting to think that the most valuable skill in this game (for some people, and hopefully only until the game changes) will be guessing where spoofers are battling. It doesn't even matter whether you have time to pick your lineup. My automatically-selected 3 Skarmory, 1 Dragonite, 1 Flareon, and 1 Espeon netted me a victory on Venusaur.

Yawn

As already said they literally tell you recommended group size 17 lol.

In no way does that suggest it is possible solo. If you wasted 1$ trying to solo a level 4 gym that is your fault, not Niantic's.

I solo stuff out of curiosity, but there's no way I'm trying lvl 4 until I'm high enough level. The one thing Niantic should do is show how many people are in a lobby before you spend the pass. But you get 1 free pass anyway so use that if you don't know if you can solo the critter. If I buy any passes, I use them on the 4-5K CP raids that I know I'm sure to win. Though I have yet to take on the poor fish, I prefer a challenge, like pitting Cloyster against Croconaw.

You could be level 40 with all maxed out perfect mons and you still wouldn't come close to being able to take down a level 4 gym solo. It's physically impossible.

Even so, it's still interesting to know how much damage your team does to something that's set on near god mode. I knew I had high chances of not beating Jolteon, but was glad I managed to deal 50% HP damage to it with a non-optimized team of CP from 1.5K to almost 2K.
Was pretty disappointed when Weezing managed to beat my top mons though and still had a bit under 50% HP. But I'll beat one one day.

what do you want them to do, bar people from starting a solo 3/4 raid?
there are some people who consider solo level 3 the only real (but doable) challenge in the game and it can be done.
anyone that tries a level 4 is there for giggles or has done no homework at all.

Yeah, I think soloing level 3 raid is quite easy IF AND ONLY IF there is no lag and ghost charged moves issues and couples with precise timing on dodging the boss charged moves. :)
