Is there a guide for raid basics?

Thank you, GP, for the new guide on raid boss counters, this is very helpful. I'll have to look at my attackers and organize them accordingly (much like I used to do with prestigers).

But having only done 3 level 3 raids and one (unsuccessful) level 4 lapras raid, I still have questions about raids. The level 4 raid was very glitchy, which didn't help, and at times I couldn't tell what was happening.

Is there a guide in raid basics? I checked the TSR subreddit and couldn't find one there either.

Maybe someone can explain the raid line or queue. In basic gym battling, when you and others attack a rival gym, everyone attacks the defender (and gets attacked) at the same time. If you attack a raid boss, do you take turns? How does this work? One if your attackers gets to fight it, then someone else's? The animation was so messed up I really couldn't tell what was going on....

Thanks for any info!

It's just like attacking together in the old gym system...everyone does damage to the boss together (you hit, damage, friend hits, more damage), when the boss attacks, everyone takes the damage depending on your own mon...

Mostly, all you do is spam attacks nonstop...IMO, no need to dodge since the rewards are BEST for doing the most damage...You rarely will go through all of your 6 defenders unless you solo and even then, you are more likely to time out.

Dodging just lowers DPS and gets you nothing...

High damage gets you +3 balls and best team gets you +3 balls too...

If you can do the raid with less people, but same team, it's better to setup a private group since same team can give you +3 balls...(A Charizard ran from me when I only had 7 balls).

I'm not sure what determines the "Damage" category...but in larger raids, I tend to only get 1 or 2 balls in that...with my wife, I always get +3 balls.

I've done 11 raids so far...screen recorded everyone to study them and to note rewards, etc...

Also, I've noticed near every raid I start, I start 20-30 seconds late so that probably hurts my DPS a ton...

Thanks for the detailed reply. Good idea about the screenshots.

But what does the line mean? During the level 4 raid with 2 family members and 2 strangers, somebody's snorlax suddenly showed up and I couldn't see my attacker. There were glitches and network errors, though.

Good advice about the spamming... do you use the charge move at all, or only if devastating (like SB)?

Thanks!

After the move change, all charge moves do more damage than quick moves so my thinking is now, maybe more bar moves are better so you just constantly spam charge moves (like a defender was before in the gym system)...Something like a Rock Blast Golem (3 bars) with the large damage taken from Raid bosses may just keep spamming that non-stop...

I plan to use a Charge TM on my 97% Rock Throw/Earthquake Golem so I hope to get Rock Blast instead (already got a RT/SE one at level 30).

That happened to me. Set your phone to "automatic time" and it will stop

I checked this already and it is already automatic...(had the incense bug earlier)...

Thanks for the tip and would love to hear more ideas as to why it does this.
