Hi all

Another probably-annoying-by-now TM-related question, in the absence of up-to-date GP info, which is still my main guide...

I have a 100% Machamp with legacy moves Karate Chop/Cross Chop, still at lvl20. I also have one Charged TM. I'm not anticipating getting many TM's as the excitement around raids will probably die down after everyone gets their 7th Tyranitar :-\ so it'll be hard to find enough raiders to beat the big bosses and gather many more TM's. In other words, I don't want to waste it!

So, would KC/DP or KC/ClC be a good combination? How does KC perform in battle, compared with Counter, against Blissey/Snorlax/Tyranitar/Lapras, which I gather are his main uses?

This will not happen so soon. The bottleneck are candy. Even with 7 Tyranitar, you have got 70 candy, thus, one Level 30 Tyranitar.

Assumptions for this:
(1) Universal Candies not used but saved for legendaries
(2) Used normal or golden razz-Berries, because escape rate is to high for pinaps.

In other words, I don't want to waste it!

Neither will i, because i fear, niantic will lower the TM-rate. Until now i only used 1 TM to get rid of Firestorm on my 100%-Tyranitar.

So, would KC/DP or KC/ClC be a good combination? How does KC perform in battle, compared with Counter, against Blissey/Snorlax/Tyranitar/Lapras, which I gather are his main uses?

Well the Tale of the Tape
KC: 8 Damage 10 Energy .8 Sec
Counter 12 Damage 8 Energy .9

First need to Standardize Times. Counter would be multiplied by 8/9 to make it even out
Counter: 10.6 Damage 7.1 Energy .8 Sec

Looking at DP is 90 damage for 50 Energy that means 1 energy could be called 1.8 Damage.
So the 2.9 extra energy generated = 5.51

So after adjustments, and using the extra energy
KC: 13.51 Damage
Counter: 10.6 Damage

At a glance KC wins. unless because I havent had enough coffee yet just waking up I messed something up lol.

Keep in mind this is ONLY with Dynamic Punch as a charge move. Because of how effecient it is with energy.

Also keep in mind this is a Paper Simulation, in real world cycles, they are going to be closer, because the comparison assumes you use every single point of extra energy KC generates. Anytime Machop faints or switches out with left over energy hurts KC

All in all, I suspect KC+DP will slightly come out ahead but not enough ahead to matter.

Thanks for the info! Thanks to Bruno too - I haven't used Pokebattler before so I was wrestling with that! So even bigger thanks to Arak2 for spelling it out for me.

I'm getting really itchy to use my TM and try her out! But I don't have enough Machop candies to get her up to battle speed, which is probably a good thing because it forces me to be patient :-)

Above all I am so happy I'm gonna get some use out of this lady - she'll be my first useful 100% mon.

I wouldn't touch KC/CC. Leave it as is and max it out.

Why would you not touch it, may I ask? Is Cross Chop not basically useless?

I have a similar situation with my machamp but not 100% iv 87% mine is. He has karate chop and stone edge. I was tempted to use two TM on him because pokebattler said karate chop is bacically garbage compared to the rest
