Powering up metal claw Kingler?

In your opinion, is it worth powering up a level 24 Kingler (IV 15 15 14, cp 1800) with metal claw, in order to take down lapras?
I'm level 28 so it should reach 2200 cp when maxed out.

Maybe is better try to get a good Jolteon?

I'm not sure why people think Kingler is good versus Lapras.

Yes, Metal Claw is super effective vs. ice. But it's not very effective vs. water, so it only hits Lapras for neutral damage. When taking into consideration that Kingler doesn't even get STAB on the move, his only upside versus Lapras is that he resists ice.

Fire types also hit Lapras neutrally, while also resisting his ice-type attacks. The big difference is that they get STAB on their moves, though. This makes them better to take down Lapras than Kingler will ever be.

Jolteon is okay too - he'll hit Lapras harder than fire, but at the same time he won't resist ice, so you need to dodge more.

My personal favorite against Lapras is Magneton. It received a 20% boost and now goes up to 2237. Its electric attacks hit Lapras effective, while its metal typing protects it from both ice and dragon attacks. If only Discharge were not so weak...

I'm a fan of Magneton too.

But I usually only use it as my back up electric for polishing off a Lapras/Water when I'm powering up a gym. The idea being the Lapras/Water is almost dead and discharge can finish it off.

Otherwise:
Sure Magneton takes 20% less damage than a Jolteon

But Magneton does 50-60 percent less damage than a same CP Jolteon

(14.29 True DPS Discharge on Magneton vs Jolteon's Bolt at 29.63 or Thunder at 33.72)

Hrrrmm actually more I just list it out here, the more I will never use Magneton again. The boost Jolteon got was bigger than the boost Magneton got and makes it just not worth using

Its not that simple. You spend about half of your time loading with quick moves. During this time Magneton deals 14.3 DPS from Spark, Jolteon only 13.3 DPS from Thunder Shock. Due to this, the total damage advantage of Jolteon over Magneton is only about 20%. Overall, both do equally well against Lapras. But Magneton has lower CP and thus can give better prestige changes.

I have used Magneton occasionally as a backup training choice against Lapras and Snorlax (Zen+Bs or Hb) The main problem with Magneton is still his small HP. Getting his Atk and Def inflated a little in some ways made him worse for training.

Arcanine is the best vs. Lapras. You don't even need to dodge. Flareon can also do well but you might need to dodge.

Jolteon can do very well but without dodging you are dead

I have 3 Kabotops that have Fury Cutter and Stone Edge. I find that with decent dodging, he does pretty will. Also he does resist Ice(Rock+Water)

Thans to all!
I won't power up my kingler and I'll wait for a good jolteon/magneto/arcanine.
