Raid boss defeated solo with only 2 pokémon

Woke up to see a raid just outside my house. 11k CP Magmar, two stars, recommended amount of players 13 (or was it 17?). Turned out to be the only one there but was dying to try out the raids so went in alone. My 3000 CP Rhydon took down 85% of the Magmars HP before fainting. Dragonite finished it off. Kind of disappointing. Was hoping this would be hard. Hopefully the higher star pokémon will be harder. Got 1 Rare Candy, 6 Golden Razz Berries and 3000 XP.

From all reports, Level 3 raids or higher will be a challenge for solo players...challenge as in near impossible unless you have all maxed mons with proper movesets/counters...

Most level 30+ people should be able to solo any raid 2 boss or lower (pink eggs).

Problem is mostly timeout issues.

Muk went down easy too~12000cp. A team of three couldn't do Snorlax. Timed out, did t lose. If three trainers went in with full fighting type mons and moves it could have happened.

I was devastated I ran to the spot and there was about a dozen people - they just finished! I didn't think raids were going to draw crowds like that in my small town.

Yeah, a lvl 40 in Japan with 6 or 7 people couldn't down a Snorlax with the lag, issues, etc...(a 39, 2 38s, etc...)

Finally did it when someone else showed up with like 20 secs to spare...

You need probably 6+ people for Snorlax unless all the people have maxed out Machamps...

With SE being 1.4, maybe Primeamp and Hitmonlee would be serviceable?

I find it hard to believe unless the raid was level 4 and then it was more a funcion of raid level than pokemon.

3 of us took out a level 3 Vapereon Raid, which shouldn't be much quicker than Snorlax. Even if we had gone neutral attackers we finished in 100 seconds.

One thing people might need to do is realize you got 6 pokemon use them. IE don't dodge so much.

Damage Taken = Energy Gaine = extra dps

Can read here, but my guess is LAG, spinning ball, constant heals/unheals, etc...will make any fight much much harder...Like someone posted they couldn't even select his 6 mons and ended up using Blisseys since it lagged so bad. I also would assume any heavy SR reader knows how to play (he had two Level 39 Machamps as well)...

My first and yet only "raid" was single against a 5200ish Croconaw, one star, wanted to catch it because Tododile are frikking rare here and I didn't have one yet. Carefully selected my attackers starting with a 2844 ZH/SolarBeam Exeguttor. It barely got a scratch, had ~ 80% of its health left when the Boss Croconaw dropped.

~18 000 Machamp in the rural Finnish countryside (Kauhajoki) https://goo.gl/maps/WRuv7NwUhfN2 . Nobody else around but me. Could only manage to take 2/3 of the HP down. Suggested party size 13.

I think Machamp is a level 3 raid boss...would probably need at least 2 trainers with strong Psychic attackers...Fairy and flying mons tend to have lower attack stats.

Very few reports of many people able to solo level 3 bosses unless they have maxed out mons and are very high level...

Is anyone disappointed with the gym rework, but a bit more excited about the raid bosses?

I suppose for me, at least trying to find counters JUST to deal with the raid bosses and redo my team has made the game more interesting/strategic...I've only done 1 raid so far (Muk which wife and me beat in 63 secs so could've soloed it, and was a new entry for the wife actually)...

Sorta hating the gym rework between teams though.

More strategic? You just need couple more peoples, not better mons. Nothing x10cp looks unbeatable for 20 trainers

All true, but if you are in an area and the first group already cleared the Tyranitar, those trainers can't help you anymore...wife and me actually saw a t-rex raid, but there was only 7 minutes left on it.

We did the Muk instead since there would've been no way we could have beaten the T-rex with just 2 of us...

I think Gengar may be the new Machamp Miller. Especially those of use with a ton of themfrom the Halloween event.

If you run out of other stuff anyway.

Problem is none of Gengar's move are SE into Machamp...you'd not get knocked out probably, but with only 2 or 3 people, you'd need more DPS mons.

I tried defeat blastoise alone. Impossible ?! I defeated snorlax with 7 other trainers. Both were 4 star raids. You gonna need help with those 4 star bosses.

It seems to be more or less like this:

Level 1: Super easy, even for low level trainers.

Level 2: Soloable for most decent players.

Level 3: The easiest are soloable for top players with optimal mons, while the hardest need more than 1 player.

Level: 4: Usually very hard with less than around 5 players. Again, depending on defender and access to optimal attack teams.

I believe that level 5 is gonna be legendaries and will more or less require a full team (20 people), but let's see.

I soloed today a one star raid, a 5k cp Quilava, and a 2 star raid, a 11k Electabuzz. It went fairly easy, My MS, SE 3k Rhydon killed Quilava with still 80% of hp left and my two 2.6k Golems took care of Electabuzz in half the time.
