Vaporeon – Still my highest CP Pokémon
Snorlax – Stop Tyranitars a little bit
Espeon – Deals damage fast
Flareon – Fun
Omastar – The non-legacy best defensive moveset
Kabutops – High CP, probably no use for attack
Haven't test them out, though.

If that Kabutops has Ancient Power and Mud Shot, use it vs Gyarados. It's my 2nd favorite for bringing those down, the first being Sudowoodo.

I don't disagree with a bunch in this post. I like a lot of those mons. But Snorlax as a block to Tyranitar? You must be kidding. He resists his moves more than ever and HS doesn't fix that. I promise you I go through them easier after the update than ever before by a lot.

And I'm guessing leaving off Blissey was just a slip up.

Blissey ZH/DG
Blissey P/ZH
Snorlax ZH/BS
Other Blisseys 3-6.

Whatever else just don't spend dust on it. And nothing over 3K

I'm not sure it matters. There is no combination available that will stop 6 attackers from someone who has a decent knowledge of counters.

I think it's funny how everyone here keeps pointing out that nothing is going to "stop" an attacker. Sort of obvious by now, isn't it? As far as I'm concerned it's never been about stopping anyone, but making a difference by increasing the amount of potions and revives needed to take a gym.

Sure, but I've battled a bit today and it looks like if you don't take defender out in first 10-20 seconds battle became glitchy and you win only after timer comes to zero. So bulky mons are still preferred. It's so stupid that even battle with 1500cp blissey takes 100 seconds.

Given that double weakness mons are essentially worthless at defending now (1.96x weakness multiplier), I'd vote for:

Snorlax
Blissey
Lapras
Steelix
Vaporeon (must have aqua tail)
The slow guys (must have confusion)

1. Blissey - Insanely tanky, should still be the top defender by a large margin.

2. Snorlax - Very tanky in addition to a typing that is hard to exploit.

  1. Lapras - Very tanky and with a solid typing. Its CP is no longer holding it back - low CP might even be a plus (haven't been able to look properly into the motivation thing yet).
  2. Slowbro - Tanky with STAB confusion. Typing is good versus most attackers, Tyranitar being the biggest problem. Has access to STAB Water Pulse for that matchup.
  3. Vaporeon - Very tanky. Loses points on pityful matchups versus grass attackers.
  4. Umbreon - Tanky. Typing that is hard to exploit. Loses points on low damage output. If low CP is a good thing now, he could move up on the list, but as mentioned I don't know yet.

Honorable mentions:

Steelix - Could've taken the place of Vape or Umbreon, it's pretty close here IMO. What pulls him out of my list is his weakness to water. Being destroyed by a pokemon every low level player has is a very negative trait.

Exeggutor - Somewhat tanky with STAB Confusion. The double weakness to bug pulls him out of my list. The Scizor matchup is particularily bad.

Skarmory - Skarmory is basically a Steelix with a bit worse stats, but a bit better typing. She's underrated, and almost gets a spot on my list.

I'm in a hurry, so I've probably overlooked some decent ones. Like Donphan. Some of the other old big 7 could still be good too, even with double weakness. Need more information on motivation before making a definite list.
