Gym fighting useless effort...
...when apparently the trainers are around (or spoofing).
I just tried to get myself into a gym, at that time occupied by 3 very unmotivated and 3 motivated ones. After 19 defeats total (over 20 minutes) I gave up. Some new guy apparently was able to step into a slot I just freed with a new Pokémon and fed the dying ones.
I thought they prevented from feeding berries during a battle and entering for 10 minutes. I probably wasted my time healing and selecting attackers.
Very glitchy gameplay also. It seems you are fighting 2 batlles with the same Poke simultaneously, and in both of them they need to faint before you are granted the win.

Why? If you actively "defend" the gym by feeding berries you will get stardust. Getting stardust is even easier now since you do not require a spot to get some. Just feed your and your teammates Pokés. And getting berries is not that difficult.
And why is everyone complaining about the one coin in one hour thing? Before the uptade you had to whait 21 h before you coult get another 10 coins per Poké in a gym. Do the math, even if you would have instandly claimed your 10 coins after you put one mon in a gym and could have stayed another 21 h, that would have been 0.95 coins per hour. And only if you would have lasted another 21 h.
Yeah, do the math.
You can get a max of 50 coins/day.
Previously you could cash in on as many gyms as you could force your way into. No limit.
Infinity > 50
Before, you got 500 stardust per gym, with no limit.
Now, you have to use berries to get 20 stardust.
that's 25 berries for what used to be one gym.
Also, if you maintain your Pokemon in gyms or all the Pokemon in the gyms you're in, all it does is delay the cash out.
1 guy in 1 day for 8.33 hours and you've reached your daily limit on coins. At that point, hope he gets kicked out or starves, or you don't get your coins.
Hedge your bets. Four weak, useless guys in gyms. Just over two hours and you're maxed out for the day. Let them starve or hope they get kicked out because they're weak. Gyms will soon be empty, unless people don't realize how this works.
You're fighting a useless battle, I understand what you mean. i never got more than 30-40 coins a day. When they said the max coins per day is 100 it really didn't matter to me cause i have NEVER been that close. For me to hold 2 gyms for a couple days is easier than getting 15 gyms in an hour then collect. This game is played in so many different regions that not everyone can be happy. I was saying the whole week if the cap was 8-10 that would leave more gyms open for people and in cities there are both more gyms and people. Obviously even more gyms than before, these are the people who should want fewer pokemon cap now.
You're right. I think it's more about personal pride than the coins for many. What gets me is if you want to hold a gym for any amount of time you need to either stay up later than everyone in your area and take gyms, or get up earlier and take them so that the opposition is either asleep or at work. Now I guess that shows dedication to the game for someone to do that and they in turn deserve the coins but most people just ain't got time for that :). Almost every town has that one crazy pokemon go player... or bot/spoofer that will do just that.
This just happened to me... gym was almost down and someone came along and threw in a fresh 3k Dragonite and healed everything up. What was really frustrating is either I wasn't paying attention or wasn't notified of the the new Dragonite when admittedly lazily making my team to finish of the gym. For all I know the Dragonite could have been added while I was fighting the others. Either way I had no counter for it and it resulted in a lot of lost resources to replenish what I thought was about to be a quick easy gym takeover. I guess this inconvenience was on me for not being prepared but I'll know from now on!
Wait a little bit. Around here, where we have a active community, people are figuring out that maintaining Pokemon in gyms costs you a lot of time, gives you very little and keeps you from getting coins. People are now putting their weakest Pokemon into gyms and, those gyms, are typically not even full. Wait a day and see if open gyms/gym spots just start popping up. Then, put in your worst Pokemon. When they get kicked out, you cash in! And don't feed them any berries! You want them out. They do you no good in a gym.
