Interesting motivation observation

So as soon as I saw the gyms go up, I left work a bit early and went to a nearby cemetery with five open gyms. Plopped the following Pokemon in (no berries given):

Snorlax (not maxed)
Vaporeon (maxed)
Vaporeon (not maxed)
Eggs (maxed)
Donphan (not maxed)

Two and a half hours later they are all still there and have not been fought or fed. Of these only the Snorlax and one of the two Vapes have lost motivation at all. Not sure which Vape is which, unfortunately.

But maxing CP doesn't necessarily seem to affect motivation loss since the Donphan and Eggs are both strong. Wonder if it's related to he particular Pokemon type first and then maybe CP/stamina IV? The two vapes losing at different rates make me think there's definitely something within a particular species which affects the motivation.

Excited to battle something tomorrow :)

Hmmm... based on other people's observations I wonder if the motivation loss is also tied to the gym interaction. These gyms haven't been touched so maybe the loss is slower in hard-to-reach gyms

That's a good point. I know you can level up gym badges, so maybe a higher rank or whatever affects the decay rate.

Time will tell! I have placed mons in gyms all over so am waiting to see what happens tomorrow. Would love to use a gym tracker now but sticking to my p,aying straight ethos and will drive by most of them tomorrow to see what has happened!

It would be interesting if IV, attack, defense or HP determines the rate of decrease.

How do the Vaporeons differ in appraisal?

They are both second appraisal - "caught my attention" for Mystic.

And just for an update, it's been five hours and none of them have changed much from the start. The Snorlax and Vape who weren't maxed might be a little lower, but not much. Others haven't lost anything. Maybe a rival team spinning the stop lowers the motivation?

My observation: level 40 char with almost always higher cp mons than the other 5- these mons get targetted for huge cp drops very fast, 40-50% ish. I dont know if it matters but im in about 15 gyms iirc.

Interesting to note that the mons i dropped with lower max cp (ampharos, lapras etc) didnt get touched, while 3k blisseys and snorlaxes got pimp slapped.
