It says raids are not yet available for you level. Instead of them just not being available yet. Why is this a thing. PS. I am level 30.

It may just be a temporary coding thing....making the entry level requiring something like player level 50 - it is a simple way to lock out all players, and easy to turn back on again.
It would also mean that they could test with 'level 50' accounts (or whatever limit they put on it.)

Just a guess...but I thought I would mention it.

Yea that's probably it. Instead of adding some new code specific to block us out temporary, they prob used the code they are going to use when raids get released everywhere.

Saves them some time to write a block of code that would get deleted eventually annyway.

I came to ask the same thing. I'm 34. Trying to decide if I should grind up to 35. Can't imagine it would lock out anyone over 30....

From what I have read, they will be rolling out the Raids feature over the next few weeks once Gyms are back up. I believe they will roll out to designated areas, and starting at higher levels as well.

My guess is they won't have Legendary raids until the Chicago event next month. After that Legendaries will start spawning at Gyms all over.

Yeah and they have to be the hardest level raids, since they rank from 1 to 5. From the pics on Niantic's site, they show the nearby raid screen and dragonite and tyranitar are on it. The two strongest pokemon in the game at the moment are ranked 4, so we know which pokemon are ranked 5.
And Chicago Fest will most likely be where they make their debut. And since Niantic said trainers from around the world will still get a chance to get the rewards that trainers at the event got, that very strongly points at legendaries coming to raids after the event

Level 40s can't access it neither so it's just a holding spot for now.
