What is with the Chansey hype?

Ok, there have been so many threads lately with all the new changes coming and I seem to have missed the talk about why Chansey is all of a sudden so good?

Why the hype? He's pretty easy to beat.

Yeah people well... Are wrong it doesn't do enough damage and I never even time out vs blissey so with chancey I could beat her with one hand tied behind my back. So if you were asking no dont stock of on chanceys they are still not going to be good. Hope this helps!

I won't be putting any Chanseys in gyms lol. Why would I be scared of a pokemon that hits with a purse?

Unless it's a frikking rich Pokemon that doesn't trust state-issued currencies or banks and carries a bag of actual gold coins around..

Well Chansey is just a lesser Blissey and Blissey is pretty amazingly good. So Chansey is a better choice than other defenders in its range, but it is obviously no Blissey.

No. Blissey has the ability to KO a pokemon. Chansey simply wastes your time.

And if anyone times out vs a Chansey they better quit this game. My 5 year old daughter can beat a Chansey.

It is true though. My daughter can mash the phone and easily beat a Chansey without any effort. But she wouldn't be able to beat say an Eggy where they hit hard and you have to dodge and it actually has a chance to KO your poke if you mess up.

Seriously though, what am I missing with this Chansey hype? Someone explain to me why a Chansey is going to be strong in a gym?

Not at all. Cp is not always related to player level, and cp isn't as important anymore. A level 30 Chansey is only around 1200 cp if I remember correctly. A level 25 Vaporeon is around 2300 cp.

All Chansey are female

The answer will be in my next post. I think it has something to do with CP

Will be interesting to see if that plays into anything. I honestly hope not or it just ends up being a big time waste. I'd rather have gym battles be challenging and something you need to figure out rather than just beating a low/crappy CP pokemon 7-8 times just to knock off 200 motivation each time.

That can't be what the end goal is for Niantic and this "new" revamped gym scene. Would be such a let down.

Agreed, but i find that our prestigers could be useless now, otherwise. The only feared low CP mon would be Chansey, but only as feared as Blissey in the old system. Just takes a little longer

If, by chance, you need a lower CP mon to take down a greater amount of motivation from the defender, then chansey is a better fit (over Blissey). The reason, because you can "easily" take down a Blissey using a pokemon with less CP, but Chansey having a very low CP, but just as high in stamina, makes it "harder" to demotivate because going under CP is not an option

With all things being equal it will still be WAY easier to defeat a gym with a 1200CP Chansey than a 3000+CP Blissey.

WAY easier.
