GO FOR IT! i am so jealous, would love that Charizard. Hopefully before the event ends!

Congratulations to this great pokemon.

If somebody levels up a Charizard, he does so not because he needs it, but because he likes it. I think, i would like a nearly perfect, cool looking pkm with best moveset, and i would power it up too, independend on how gyms will work soon.

if short of dust, I would maybe wait with powering; not because of a maybe changing role for charizard, but because i would maybe need your dust for somebody else, like steelix, first.

I would because it is so awesome. I have a 100% Venusaur that I have maxed out @ 2477CP and always put him in gyms.

As for yours with FS/O I would be using it all the time as an attacker.

I have some mons I just power up because I like them. Maybe it is wasting dust but it is a game and you have to enjoy it too!

Why go past 30? It's an attacker (and I think Arc or Flareon can be a comparable or better attacker), so unless the gym system is changed significantly such that powering an attacker past 30 is rewarded, this would not be a wise use of dust/candy.

I would keep him at that CP to be a Blissey Prestiger. But the Gym Rework may completely change things.

In the current meta (which may significantly in a matter of days), Flareon has better base stats, so a FS/O Flareon is a better attacker than Charizard against almost anything except Grass and Bug. However, there is one thing I'd regularly use a FS/O Charizard for that it does better than Flareon -- prestiging DG Blisseys. For this purpose, it's important not to have too high a CP, so I certainly wouldn't max it out, especially with the gym rework coming.
