Hatched Larvitars

Today i hatched my 3rd Larvitar in total. All of them have the second best appraisal, with 36 IV stat points (~ 80%)
During last event i made one of these a Pupitar already, with 15 Attack.
Sitting on 94 candies now. 75 candies from hatches, the others came by rare wild ones. As you can see not a lot since Gen2 release.

Would you make a T-Rex now (walking for 6 remaining candies) or wait till a better IV hatch or better CP wild catch?
Thanks for your input.

If you evolve your pupitar now you will most likely not end up with a relevant attacker nor a hogh cp defender. I would wait until you can power it up to lvl 30 for it to be useful as an attacker. You probably will be able to get another larvitar until then.

I'd say wait. Walking for the last 6 candies will get you a Tyranitar, but the CP won't be very high. At least not high enough to be relevant on defense or attacking. Larvitar seem rare for you, so just keep walking and hope that sooner rather than later, you hatch enough Larvitar to get enough candy to max out your Pupitar or hopefully catch a wild Tyranitar.

Is larvitar not rare for some people?

I have never heard of anyone swimming in larvitars. I have not seen a single one in the wild except for when there was an event when i caught 2.

I have hatched about 6 and finally have enough for 1 tyranitar.

But I still remember the first week of gen 2 and seeing tyranitars everywhere.... such a joke.

Like all mons they are more common in certain biomes but I don't think any biome is "swimming" in them.

They have long been a more common hatch so you kind of get to set your own rarity.

I evolved IV 67% and level 29 (15att 0def 15sta) larvitar and got cp2900+ tyranitar but im still not sure what to do with it.

I think all moves of tyranitar suck.

Crunch is 3 bar move which i like, but it has high animation time which sucks.
Stone edge and fire blast are not fun to use for me, cus i dont like spamming quick move 12sec before i get one hit of charge move.

Maybe stone edge would be the best choice, at least it hits very quickly.

I would wait and I am in your shoes too...I've hatched 4 Larvitars...none are over 90%. I have over 270+ candies now...Since Larvitar and Dratini are 2 stage evolutions (takes 125 candies), it never hurts to have too much candies...

Evolving is so expensive already so just stockpile all the candy and wait...If you get lucky and hatch a few in a row with good IVs, you'd be very happy that you now have 500+ candies (or whatever...).

As you can tell, getting a dex entry means nothing to me so I'm in no rush and will get them eventually.

Gyms are also changing so it's wise to wait for that since it's probably happening in a week or so.

Yes, but gyms maybe disabled for a few days or a week+ while they work out the bugs...figured that was obvious.

damn, I feel guilty now as I sent the professor a Larvitar that was hatched @ 81% .......only because I have 4 more @ 86% and already have 2 maxed out Rex at lv 37.5 B/C & B/SE

Might want to consider waiting on evolving from larvitar to pupitar until you're sure/ready to take it all the way to tyrannitar. Otherwise, you may spend 25 candies on a dead end project.

Noone might read my reply since Qs dont get bumped up when a new answer post is written.

Still, i got another Larvitar from 10k egg today, also 36 IV stats (as the other 3 before). So i just evolved the Pupitar i had already and guess what - B/SE Tyranitar!
So happy with him and not worried about IV at all (80%). Since we all assume mon, IV and moveset are already set when we collect an egg, it makes me even more joyful that i kind of made this "error" of evolving into Pupitar without having enough candy for the full evolve into T-Rex.
