The new gym scene

With restrictions on number of identical mons in the upcoming remake, one would exspect that gyms will become weaker.

Isn't it then probable that either defense mons will get buffed or attackers will be nerfed?

I don't think they gonna buff one or nerf the others, but I hope they introduce abilities and items you can use during fights.

Also they must change CP placement in gyms now, there is no hope for this game at least for legal players if CP is still what matters after the rework. If they make it so you can only place one mon of each kind no way I am gonna prestige 10k to put a Slowking for example if he is gonna be out the first.

On the other side if I am the first to arrive (almost imposible with cheaters but imagine so), and put my Dragonite for example, they will have no problem to take down the hole gym even if it is level 5-6-7 just to prestige it again and put their own Dragonite.

So Niantic has to think really closely about this, gym placement and restrictions are related, one thing influences the other directly.

Well in honesty we don't know for sure the "1 limit" is going to be every species and not just for upcoming Legendaries.

I personally think a 1 limit is going to ruin Pokemon Go.

Why keep investing in your 3000 Vaperon, when you can never place it because theres a 2400, 1800, even a 1200 Vaperon in the Gym

If it does become a single critter type in each gym... then it'll make shaving interesting... gonna have to shave off 9-10 levels to get their dnite, or trex in there. Happy shaving peeps!!!!

I'm not sure if they will get rid of CP personally...

Reason being is the only reason to buy incubators is to get high IV mons...Without a need for those, incubators are nerfed.

It has also been suggested that they go by Pokemon level instead of Trainer level or CP, if that's the case, then I think Pigeot will now be the top defender since candy is unlimited and everyone can get an army of maxed Pidgeot (or even Vaporeon) compared to rare things like Snorlax, Blissey, etc...

As someone else also mentioned, gym sitting/defending may also be completely gone after the rework...That's what I am leaning towards too and why all our mons are "coming home" in a few days...(for those of us in stagnant gyms...).

No idea what will happen, but you'd assume they will want people to keep hatching eggs, get higher IVs, etc...Without that need, Niantic will nerf their own income supply.

Not true. I also hatch eggs to get Pokemon that are rare in the wild in my area, and to get candy to evolve and power them up, and also to get healthy amounts of stardust from each hatch (especially from 10 km eggs).

Furthermore, yes, I try to get high IV mons as well, but not for their CP, but rather for their increase (however small and incremental you may believe it is) to base attack, defense, and stamina stats.

The gyms certainly won't be weaker. Diverse gyms are much harder to take down than your gyms with 4 or 5 straight Rhydon and Dragonites. Will they be weaker compared to a Blissey tower? Sure...but in general this should make them much stronger. You need to game plan, maybe use more generalist attackers. Do you bring a Lapras for that one Dragonite? A Jolteon for that one Gyarados?

I can't imagine a major rework that requires all mons to be returned to trainers, to be nothing more than restrictions on identical mons.

Diverse gyms could be harder to take down. The last gym I encountered had 3 snorlax in a row. Took my Bite/SE Tyranitar at them and he took out all three in a row. That is efficiency. Now if there was a Vaporeon in there and then say a Machamp after the Snorlax it would likely make me switch pokes.

It would make it a lot tougher to set your line-up. The only thing I won't miss is gyms with 7-10 blisseys in it.

Diversity will be awesome IMO.

I have a ton of mons ready to go.
