Alakazam with Confusion

Since Alakazam got a huge buff today, I was wondering if my Confusion/Psychic Alakazam would be worth powering up, or if Psycho cut is a must have. Abras are a little hard to come by here, so saving candies to evolve another might take a long time, and even then I might need more candies to power it up.

If you dodge quick attacks, its worth it.

You can use 2 psycho cuts or 1 confusion between dodges to its about a 1 damage different.

Depending on the speed of opposing quick attack, it could be 2, 3 or even 4 psycho cuts per dodge. A fast quick attack is also more flexible when dodging charge attacks only. - You are more likely to meet the 0,7-sec-dodge-window and not to be stuck in cooldown.
I really do not like confusion (and other slow quick-attacks) when attacking and use it only for defenders.

not worth powering for offense imo. I'm afraid psychocut/psyko is way better than every other other moveset for attacking, you really need this one.
Yours has best defensive moveset though.
Even though Alakazam has little stamina. It should make an ok defender with high Cp.

U still got better options. Only Golem and Rhydon became tier one with this change. Nevertheless, Alakazam became quite respectable. It's a good defensive moveset, and given its high CP, it will be decently placed in Gyms. It's a decent Gym option. I would still channel stardust towards other options: Snorlax and Vaporeon offensively, Rhydon defensively.

In my opinion, only pokemons with both good IV and good defender move set are worth-powering up. Your Alakazam has the best defender move set. So if your Alakazam has a very good IV ( > 90%), I will definitely suggest you to power up it.
