Rework aside Poliwrath question

So I am wondering what practical uses my Wrathes have. I am not using resources until the rework but I want to know which ones perform optimally. I have B/HP, B/DP, RS/HP, and RS/IP. I know the last one is more of a defender type, but is it better to have fighting move as quick or charge? Is B/HP still good?

My RS/HP Poliwrath decimates Tyranitar, Rhydon, and Golem. Steelix too. That is what I use him for at least.

I think all your Poliwraths have decent move sets except RS/IP, can't see a use except for defense which is illogical.

Edit: Let me clarify. RS/IP doesn't have any use in attack, so that only leaves defense. And while IP might be SE against some attackers, it just really isn't that good, as explained in my answer down below.

My Poliwrath with RS/HP destroys Snorlax too!

You know you just said that his defensive set is Illogical when we have official news of the gym rework right?

In any case Rocksmash/Ice Punch doesn't make a lot of defensive sense. While Ice Punch is S/E against Grass and Flying, Rocksmash is normal effectiveness vs Grass and weak towards Flying.

Rework or not, the types don't go well together. Ice Punch also lacks STAB.

I maxed out my B/HP long ago prior to the nerf of Bubble so I still habe mine at a decent CP of 2100 - /+. I use him versus anything weak to water. I have my army of Vaporeons and Blastoise but I tend to give some action for my once best defender with 7 battles won.

I use RS/DP and B/DP as emergency Prestigers. At level 30 and 2050 HP each, one of them can take out one blissey for 6-700 prestige.
