I would. It is your decision to make.

He would be Cool and that is his best Defensive Set. But even that he is a very bad Defender due to how Strong Machamp and Heracross are. Also if you just want it for placement wait to see if we get any news on the Gym Rework. Plus IT makes him a very lack luster attacker. If you need Defenders. Blissey, Snorlax, Vaporeon, Dragonite(if he is the only one in the gym), Gyarados, Espeon, Donphan, and if you are high enough level Exeggutor could work aswell. And as far as attackers. SoB Exeggutors and Venusaurs, OH Flareons, and really any Arcanines or any other mon with a very high attack stat. like 225 plus, atleast.

Because of his weakness to Machamp, I think crunch is his best defensive charge move for the fact that he will get it off before he faints, SE, not so much. My last one has this moveset and I am holding off on him for the time being.

I would hold off on him for the simple fact that when you do acquire enough candies to power him up, the rework might be out. I would just see where we are when you have enough candies to power him up.

Crunch is definitely his best defensive charge move I would wait too. I'd keep him and maybe invest later, but if I were you my priority would first be to get a tyranitar as an attacker, after that you could get one as a defender.

Yeah I agreee that in the machamp
/Heracross matchup CR is better. But in general IT can normally charge a SE before he faints. Also his above average bulk helps. I was just saying based of of personal encounters.

We need at least 229 base attack stat usually, especially for the moves without STAB, assuming the levels are the same.

I would wait for the "new update focused on collaborative group gameplay features" before making a decision

I was in the same situation. Same moveset, exact same IVs, no chance for another tyranitar to power up any time soon (no wild Larvitars). I caught (and walked) enough to power this guy up during the event and did so. I'm only level 33, but fully powered, it maxes out at 3374 CP, and that's enough to slot into the lower half of most gyms (my next highest CP mon is only 3249 CP) which will get sniped out of most gyms around me.

But as others said, wait for the announcements coming soon before doing anything
