Electric decision

Hey guys! What would you do in the following situation:

Goal: Have a good electric type to take down garys.
Options: Electabuzz and Jolteon
The tricky part: I want Jolteon and I have 3 89+ eevees to evolve but I already used the name trick when I was a lowbie. I reeeeally dont need anymore vaporeons and I already have a really good flareon. I also have a 15 Atk 15 Hp 14 Def Electabuzz with the best attacking moveset. Would you guys gamble on the eevees or bet on the near perfect buzzie?
Ps: if I get a jolteon on the third try I run out of candies to powerup while on electabuzz im pretty comfortable

Edit: btw im hesitant on evolving the eevees randomly because I havent been very lucky with my espeon and umbreon evolutions and I wanna try again

Electabuzz works fine but not efficient and will be a potion/revive hog. I have 3 (1150cp-1300CP) I use for prestiging) but they aren't as tanky or as good as a Jolteon. You will just end up going through more potions, even with a powered up Buzz.

Wish I could trade you some of my Jolteons for some Vapes. I had the opposite problem for the longest time. Couldn't get a Vaporeon. I had a streak of 6 Eevees in a row ended up as Jolteons.

I honestly wouldn't waste dust powering up an Electabuzz unless they get buffed at some point.

At level 30 a good Electabuzz will be around 1850CP where as a Jolteon will be around 2300CP. Jolteons have more defense and a higher attack stat so will get through the Gary's quicker and more efficient.

The point was to powerup. I wanted an electric mon that could do significally better than a simple 1v1 trade with relative ease

I'd hold out for a Jolteon then. Early on I wasted a lot of dust on powering up my first Electabuzz because I thought he was cool. I regret doing that now as he sits around 1700CP and I never use him.

Jolteon is much better. You said better than a 1 for 1 trade so that likely means Jolteon.

If it just means beating the Gary then Electabuzz will do fine, just takes longer and less tanky than Jolt.

I'd be a little nervous that a 1v1 exchange is all you'll get from electabuzz, even powered up. I have one with thunderbolt, he's got a great look and fun animation, but I'm usually pretty disappointed. My jolteon with discharge is noticeably better. Maybe try running him through poke battler and see how many Gary he can sweep.

Edit: was too slow. ^ what he said^

They need to buff Electabuzz just alittle. You would think that he would have more HP and Defense than a Jolteon. I was alittle pissed when i got a 100% IV one and his moveset was Thundershock/Thunderpunch.

I'm just go for the Electabuzz; I did just fine using Electabuzz for a long while since for some reason I just happened to not get any Jolteons till fairly late in the levels. Even at higher levels Electabuzz is still great.

What was ur dodge approach? Everything, just dragon tail and charge moves or just charge moves?

I could continue to take down garys with solar beams while trying to get a good jolteon but I often see myself impersonating erika when the gyms are packed with vapes garys rhydons and trexs xD

Electabuzz is garbage; profoundly disappointing.

Got a Lanturn with double-electric moveset? Those are pretty good - a little slow, but they're tankier than most electrics (and they resist HP) - I normally reach for my maxed out CB/TB lanturn if I'm attacking a gary-heavy tower (as I only have one jolteon). Also Magneton can be a passable counter if you have one with zap cannon. All of those are better than electabuzz - but Jolteon is by far the best electric attacker (Ampharos might also be comparable - but is very hard to get).

Ye double electric lanturn is yet to be found. Going for my 8th lanturn next mass evolution

Good luck lanturn is really tanky and awesome, should get through 2 gyarados

I'm not evolving another Ampharos until/unless he gets a faster quick move. I'll still use a Jolt.

The bigger question is: How do you only have 75 Eevee candy?

Well I powered up 2 of the vapes recently. Although sometimes theres an ocasional spawn around here I get more eevees from hatches than from wild catches... Plus these 3 eevees are all below lvl 20 so if I get it on the third evolution I cant put it near lvl 30

Eevee are pretty rare for me too, especially nowadays. I barely get 1 a day.

I had no idea that Eevees are rare in some places. I just assumed they were fairly common. I'm sitting on 3100 candies (1253 Eevees caught).

Holy sh** that's a lot I don't even see one a day, in the beginning i got some but after gen 2 barely 2 or 3 a week for a good week, after my mass evolve from the xp event I'm left with 200+ and I caught 274 eevees (lvl34 playing since august)

I only have around 500 candies but have caught 1281. I didn't realize how lucky I was. I use all 3 Gen 1 eeveelotions quite a bit.

Another option to consider: Raichu with spark/wild charge - just used one for the first time the other day and that moveset kicked butt!

I had been ignoring my Raichus for so longuntil someone had mention wild charge on him was good. That's a fun move! Haven't powered him up to challenge jolteon, but I look to use him prestiging whenever I can just so I can throw out a few charges.

If you have a good Chinchou, you could shoot for a 2x electric evolution... Unfortunately, I'm up to 4 and no luck. i have 1 water/elec, 1 elec/water 1 water/water and the 4th was a duplicate. I haven't been able to test my theory, but I believe lantern should be able to tank through Gary... probably multiples.

Wg/tb isn't bad. That is what I have been able to get. At least wg is fast and does a good job of charging tb.
