Defending movesets GamePress vs. SilphRoad excel

When i compare the movesets on this site and the excel (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hcFo7-UGWx1k1u1BHOvDhq8foPeRr7YbX2jLjjJK0Qw/edit#gid=1036598933) i found on SilphRoad, they are more or less different. I am mostly interested in defending movesets. Is there a way to know wich one are the best?

Greetings

I am more or less to believe the excel more. Because of the numbers and the actively updating. Or am I wrong?

One thing that i dont understand much is: why they update this list so much? Niantic dont buff/nerf the moves for a long time, so how can the maths change?.

Maybe they approach a new angle and then a certain moveset becomes better?

The movesets here try to take other things into consideration besides raw dps, like what type of Pokemon is likely to be attacking. Movesets elsewhere only take dps into consideration. and sometimes provide the actual dps numbers. I like to look at the moveset rankings here and from an app and compare the two.

Don't waste your time on comparing. Cp is the most important thing in this game.

The spreadsheet is more "accurate" because it's based on hard math. A lot of the rankings on here are based on gamepress' models but they don't really explain how they reach those conclusions. Like wigglytuff for example, on here best defense moveset is pound/play rough but on spreadsheet it's the worst moveset by quite a lot. It's really clear that feint attack deals more damage and gives more energy than pound, but every time it's brought up gamepress says their models say otherwise :(

In my opinion for gym defenders dps is not that important, when I chose which mon to put in gyms I think how annoyng they are based on my attacking experience.
In some cases i pref a fast att because it's more difficult to dodge instead of a slow high dmg attack easy to dodge. I think that also depend on where you are playing, if in your area people battle a lot, than they wold be able to dodge every slow att so it's better a fast att. If they're not battling much a slow att is way stronger.
Sry for bad English

Made, like me, your own calculations, with your own criteria, (dodge or not ect.)
With gamepress you can chat with emails.

Raw data from Excel misses lots of stuff. For example exeggutor with conf + sb is ranked higher for defense than conf + psychic. Sb is super easy to dodge, so although sb deals more damage, psychic is better def move because it is difficult to dodge and fast to charge.

Each one its own choices, personally I prefer to punish the Lapras with SB, that the Arcanine with Psy

Thats a point, but good players will dodge both, so SB will still more damage.

I fought against 2x 2900cp dragonites.
1. One with dragon pulse
2. One with dragon claw.

I dodged dragon pulse x2 and killed it before 3th animation was finished.
Total dmg taken 32,5.

I dodged dragon claw x1.
Later in fight it used dragon claw twice in row, i was able to dodge 1st, but 2nd one hit me while i was doing my charge move.
Total dmg taken 52,5.

Sure if im able to dodge all moves then dragon pulse is superior, but there is much bigger chance for mistakes with dragon claw than 3,6sec animation time dragon pulse....or solar/hyper beams.

How long you think that your pokemon gonna last in the gym ? A minute or 2 ?
As I said there is no point on comparing which one is better with this gym system so just go for high cp.

Not everyone lives in a busy area. Cp is not the only thing that matters. And if your poke is only staying in for 2 mins then why not go for optimal moveset anyway to help your gym?

I am level 29 and I easily kill any Snorlax or Dragonite or Lapras with less than one pokémon, it doesn't matter if the Snorlax have the best or the worst moveset

I'm not living in busy area but gyms are changing too often. I don't care about high cp or best moveset anymore.

I trust blindly on that Excel sheet, but just for fun, because it doesn't matter if your monster is a Top Tier beast 100% IV full powered up with the best moveset, it's too easy to kill any pokémon with the current gym system.
