Trainers,

We bring you refreshing news! With the arrival of summer, Niantic is preparing a new event!

The event, will consist in more Ice and Fire pokémon! More Cyndaquil, Charmender and Swinub will appear, as their evolutions and more pokémon like Lapras and Magmar.

In addition, Niantic will bring back an experience event and lucky eggs will have back a 50% sale.

You might even want to change it to the original one:

Trainers,

With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.

From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!

I don't want another double xp event but I'm sure glad I've been saving candy!

This doesn't seem like a double XP event, but instead being an "additional XP" event, just like the additional candies during the Easter event hatches.

That's almost worse haha #NoPleasingThePoGoCommunity #QuarterlyUpdates?

Consolation: I'm fiending for CharmanderCandy and I might secure a better Piloswine candidates because I just nabbed 50 candies the other day but I only have an above average swinub. Also silver (gold, wishful) ice medal please!

I wonder what the huge bonus will be for nice great excellent curve and first will be. Huge implies more than double.

Wait, is it a rumor?

Wanted to add I think this was the group that leaked the water event (and maybe another one...).

Of course, things can change but people put more value in their leaks since they have predicted a few (I think 2) earlier events...

It doesn't sound like double XP, just extra XP for hatches which probably won't make me rush to hatch 10k eggs (I need candies more)...

Also extra xp for throws, etc...Already have 40+ Lucky Eggs so no need to buy more.

I think this is from the same people that posted about the water festival ahead of time. At least that's what someone at TSR said.

Niantic should troll us by:

1: not rushing on that legendary gym update

2: Slugma everywhere, everything else uber-rare

Well...This means two things for me:

1- Confirms that all this events are taking place because gym rework is not ready, and this is bad, really bad, they said a big update will come each trimester, and not only they take out all small ones to focus on it but fail to get it on time too...

2- Another event full of Slugma here in my town, this is gonna be a nightmare hahhaha, still remember the struggles to find a good amount of rock mon between the Slugma clusters during rock event... Niantic stop trolling me please!!!

Note: A part from what I said, it is always nice to have events, I really hope ice are more common than fire, I need my ice badge, but I doubt they will do it just because I said that :D

Note2: Thinking it better, they are gonna give me Shellder and Seel instead of the ice mon, that would make their troll even better.

Back in Jan or Feb, whenever it was, I said I expect the gym update closer to the end of summer. Of course people said "but Niantic said!" Yeah, well Niantic also said trading and PVP will be part of the game...and aren't they still working on getting rid of spoofers?

Called it...

I believe this confirms that they are giving us all of the current meta pokemon, and ensuring everyone has a larger range of defenders to place in gyms when they rework them.
The problem with limiting the number of defenders is that some areas would have had large number of specific mons that players could use as defenders due to biome restrictions. After these events, most players will have a much wider selection of defenders they could place - and so gym limits on type will bepossible without people being limited to using what is in their biome.
I know in my area we started getting more Garry after the water event - we were always heavy with Rhydon and Blissey. I suspect Rhydon are already appearing more heavily in areas that they weren't prior to the rock event.
All we need now is an electric/fighting event to get the last of the meta...and double stardust to ensure we can make use of the candy and evolutions we have got with these events, and train up what we have.

I would not be surprised if we get a dbl stardust event AFTER the gym update, so we know what we need to use it on.

This isn't random events because the gym rework isn't ready - it is well planned and executed prep for the gym rework. It is making sure we all have a much larger range of mons ready to go when it drops.

...just my 2 stardust worth.

Great analysis, I hadn't thought of that and it makes very much sense. In my area (where Rock types are almost non-existent) there are definitely more maxed out Rhydon and Tyranitar in gyms after Adventure week. Thank you for sharing, aSp.

Agree.
Except ice badge nothing is motivational.
Eagerly awaiting Gym rework

I agree. I think it was pretty obvious what was going on after the grass and rock event. I though "next event is a fire event." Hopefully it is for the gym rework...

if whatever gym rework does from after this event then its cutting it really close if niantic is still going by their quarter updates.

Awesome analysis. I really hope we get that stardust boost.

Ugh, no updates and I'm gonna drown in Swinubs >_<

On the other hand, candy for my Arcanines and maybe I'll finally get a Houndoom.

This is why this event is good...it has something for everyone.
I see soooo many Arcanine and Houndoom that I walk by them without even trying.
But this week I was so happy that my nearest nest is Swinubs because it meant I could get a decent Piloswine. Prior to this nest migration, I had only ever seen 1 Swinub and 1 Piloswine.
This event will gives us both something we need...and something we don't really want.

Good luck.

I could use the Arcanine candies. Wouldn't mind a good one with wild charge, or I could finally max out my 100% Arcanine. I was holding off on him because fb isn't good for defending...I did like Houndoom quite a bit too and wanted to power him up since I failed to get a bite/c or se Tyranitar again.

Well, I have plenty of Houndoom and Arcanine already, but only ever caught one wild Swinub!
