Dragonite - power up or wait for a second?

Whilst I've caught the odd Dratini, I'm not finding many, and have never seen a wild Dragonite.

I finally hatched a Dratini at Lv30 that enabled me to evolve a Dragonite. It's currently 2216cp with DB/HB so not the best or worst moveset.

Today I hatched another Dratini and now have 33 candy. Bearing in mind the scarcity of dratini would you invest the candy in powering up this one, or save it for a second? My instinct is to save - it sits at or near the top of local gyms and does well enough as an attacker.

Thoughts appreciated.

I would power it up, you can destroy gyms only with him at full power. You will have many Dragonites on ur future teams (def/att). Take a look on mine.

I'd personally rather work towards another Dragonite. I have one with Dragon Breath + Hyper Beam and I almost never use Hyper Beam. It's more HP efficient to dodge and use the quick move.

Powering up your Dragonite to level 30 from 20 will cost 75k dust and 66 candies though. If you don't mind the clunkiness of Hyper Beam, and/or Dratinis are rare enough that you only get candies from eggs or walking them, that difference in candies compared to getting enough to evolve another Dratini might be more appealing. Plus there's no guarantee that evolving another Dratini will get you the moveset you want.

Thanks - I'll hold off for now. I don't have an urgent need for a stronger defender or attacker, and if I get bored waiting for more Dratini's I can always change my mind.
