Gym Reset
So apparently rumors about a gym rework and RESET. I am curious, does anyone think this Gym reset may also switch some stops to gyms and vise versa? a couple weeks ago they actually added 2 pokestops in the area, while doing that they also changed one stop into a gym. would you all enjoy if they switch up stops and gyms or like how your area is set up now? i personally like our spots for gyms and stops right now.

1) They already can switch gyms to stops without resetting all of them, just affecting one at a time
2) Spoofers and cheaters that are indeed being banned will be out of gyms just while time passes and other players take those gyms down. If a gym is so a part that no one is fighting them for let's say 6 months, then there is again zero point of resetting them because they will remain unattacked unless another cheater goes to them, if legal players want to take a gym, they will, and if the gym is not being attacked for a lot of time the chances are that you are affecting legal players that worked hard to get to that places.
For me this measure only benefits cheaters and spoofers, I have mon in gym that are far away, I have traveled with car and train to all the towns and cities around me to explore, catch and check where my team is strong and prestige those gyms, a lot from 20k all the way to 50k just to make them stronger, if a reset comes I hope a lot of players complain to Niantic, because I will do so.
They wouldn't just reset for no reason, they may have a stricter Ban for cheaters before this even comes up. They wouldn't do it just to do it. Alot of people pick on Niantic, but it really does do a decent job with what it is tasked to do. People complain, they try their best to fix it. They go out of their way to read up on what fans want. With everything they have done if they reset the gyms without a plan for banners IT WOULD SHOCK ME.
I agree with mystic boss on this one. Our mons (even sitting in gyms) are right in our accounts. Will be very simple to feed them. I don't see any benefit in visiting the gyms in person while I do see a huge benefit in the berry idea in general. Hopefully we will finally have a use for those dreaded nanab berries. They could quite the restless gym mons.
So I am pretty sure that the rework is confirmed (correct me if I'm wrong) but I guess it would make sence if the rework came to completely wipe clean the gyms to promote people to go check out the new system aswell as take all the trash Rhydons and Tyranitars that cant defend if their life depended on it. But I am not 100% sure what you mean so I dont know this might make sence or be completely irrelevant.
The only reason people want a wipe is because those people either live in areas where the gyms turnover is too high or they are simply too low level and want a spot...
Like you said, it doesn't affect you so since we live in a society where everyone is out for themselves, you don't care so you aren't negatively affected...
For a lot of folks who ARE in gyms and are high enough level to stay there and who also aren't spoofing and prestiging the 8-10k, yeah, it's a !#% move by Niantic if they do something like that...
Spoofers will get shaved off as time goes on also so if they have been banned, most gyms eventually turn over in short order...
The removal and/or deletion of a pokestop or gym is a completely separate thing from the gym rework. They are actively removing and adding pokestops and gyms all the time.
As for the reset, I believe they will clear out all gyms as part of the gym rework. This goes along with my hopes that the gym battling system gets completely revamped and changed. If it does not, and they simply add in notifcations for when it is being taken down, or built up, or switched teams and you have to go there to feed your pokemon, I don't think they will clear them out. It is now June, Q2 is almost over and nothing has changed. At this point I am not holding my breath anymore and just playing with no expectations. Still saving the important candies and stardust though!
It would make it difficult to test out a new gym system, if all the gyms are empty.
I am not sure where all these massive rumours are - I haven't seen much of anyone claiming thy are expecting the gyms to be cleared.
As for tying together new stops and new gyms along with a gym rework - I am not sure how someone can make that leap to tie these to separate things together.
A gym reset wouldn't affect anyone in my city as the turnover is insanely fast, and there are close to no stagnant gyms. There are rampant Instinct botters here though, and a gym reset might actually help, though it wouldn't make much of a difference.
The gym turnover is so high that the longest my Pokemon has stayed in a gym here is 36 hours, and this was the only time my Pokemon has stayed in any gym for more than 8 hours.
