Eevee did not evolve properly

So I just evolved my Eevee after walking 10km with it and earning a minimum of 2 candies (I started walking before the event). I evolved it in the day but it turned into a Flareon. Why? I am devastated. I planned on getting a great Espeon. Should I contact Niantic?

It has to be your buddy when you evolve it.

Such a blunder... it was a 15/15/14 Eevee as well. I would have been less pissed had I gotten FS/OH but instead I got E/FB
