Who to make my buddy tomorrow?

I have yet to get a Tyranitar. I'm sitting on 74 Larvitar candy. I have a Larvitar that I hatched last month I believe it was: 15A/12D/11S 84% IV's, 500 CP. To evolve him to Tyranitar and get him to level 30 it would require 191 candy! mind blown

I have a level 28 Blissey (15A/14D/10HP; 86% IV) that I'm 14 candy away from getting to level 30.

Do I finish my Blissey project or do I start walking Larvitar? I'm very conflicted. I'm personally leaning towards walking Larvitar because of how rare he is for me. This event would give me a nice boost in that department. Help, please.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I would like to use Tyranitar just for attacking. That's it. No gym placement. He falls like a brick when attacked by Vaporeon.

FYI, how are people running around with these high level Tyranitars?

I guess it depends more on what you need. Is that Chansey able to hang comfortably in gyms now? Do you need more attackers or defenders? How hard it is for you to take down current gyms with the mons you have? WOuld a Tyranitar help with this considerably? If he got a defensive moveset would you care about it?

Tyranitar are not hard to evolve if you hatch a large number of eggs or walk a lot and buddy one. Gen 2 has been out for a while now.

My best Pokemon is my 3071 CP Dragonite with DT/Outrage. He melts everything in sight. My second best Pokemon is a defender my legacy Snorlax ZH/BS 2885 CP. It took me forever to get him to where he is. I got plenty of attackers. My Blissey ends up usually in the middle to bottom of gyms. My teammates stack their Pokemon on top of her and rightfully so. I just hate making Blissey my buddy when I know she can be in a gym being a pain in the neck to take down. Her moves hit SE on Machamp.

Here's my top 12...

Then this is your chance to gain candy very quickly for a mon you otherwise have to buddy for a longer period than normal per candy when she could be in a gym.

Edit to add: Nice set of mons.

Thanks. Those other 2 Dragonite are SW/Hyperbeam ones. :(

It's basically the same distance, so unless larvitar spawns more frecuently because of the rock event, you are gonna have to walk the same distance to get both objetives done, I'd suggest you start with the more urgent one, I'd go for the blissey (more likely a different blissey/chansey), tyranitar, whyle being a strong generalist, can be easily replaced by a weaker specialist or just choosing the matchups wisely, where blissey is simply the strongest defender by a mile, regardless of moveset.

Since both of these pokemon are great options, I would suggest walking Blissey until you get 14 candies and then switching to larvitar. If you think about it 14 Blissey candies would only take about 3 days to get, and then you can switch to Larvitar. The event goes on for a week. Both are great options so there is no wrong answer.

Doesn't seem like you do much gyms so if your gyms don't stagnate or are too high for your team, then I'd do Tyranitar just to get the attacker you want.

As great as Blissey is as a sweeper, it's still slower and I value time >> potions/revives...I also value defenders more than attackers.

I've never had a maxed attacker and the game is easy as it is...(No Dnite).

I plan to walk Larvitar till I can max one (have 170+ candies) and since they require 125 candies to evolve, it's generally much longer to max Tyranitar and Dragonite.

You get a good Chancey hatch during double candies (64 candies) and you can take a hatch to Level 30 immediately.

I may walk Dratini after, but don't have any I want to evolve/max yet...Figure it's unlikely to get 2 90%+ IV Larvitar from hatches so maxing one is good enough for me.

Team Mystic used to dominate my area. (Which is the team that I'm on) You'd go days and sometimes a week and a half without your Pokemon being touched. But for the past 2 weeks, it has turned completely red. The same 3 people come by and make the gyms red. I don't know if they're spoofers or what. I don't know how to tell. I have to take down a nice portion of those gyms back by my lonesome. And when I do make it blue, it isn't long before they turn red again. I had Pokemon in 5 gyms last night. Woke up to see all my Pokemon have been kicked out. This has been happening the past 2 weeks. I need to find other areas to place my Pokemon.

I would walk chansey first until you can bring her to lvl 30 and then switch to larvitar. I'm in a comparable situation...have a maxed out ZH/DG Blissey (29 candy) and a maxed out ZH/BS Snorlax (80 candy). I also powered up my first IT/FB Tyranitar and have 103 candy. Got a 80% IV ZH/HB Snorlax and a hatched Chansey 89% and Larvitar 91%. Got pretty much everything I need, but am leaning towards going for Snorlax.
