POKEMON learned MOVE!

So the in the main series your mons can know more than two moves and through experience they gain more…but how do we incorporate that with only tap and hold? That’s one quick move and one charge move, you can select them from a list of moves your mon knows before going into gyms (and hopefully a 1 on 1 player battle).

Thoughts?

Negative. I really like the system they currently have. I actually thought of move rerolls and TMs but I rather enjoy this layout.

What about the dilemma of having to drop a good move your mon knows to make room for the move it’s about to learn that you also want? :)

Not interest in those hard choices? It would add to the customizing/personalization.

Like dropping SW for DB or DT? Seems like a hard choice to you?

Vertical swipe is still unused. This could be dedicated to a second charge move.

Actually vertical swipe gives you the pokemon selection screen if I remember correctly

Yep. But I'd really like it if it didn't do that.

And they should separate the switch and run buttons to the bottom left and bottom right corners so we don't have to be as precise.

I play the game as a collector: I want to have all the pokemon species with the highest possible IVs and the best moves. I live and spend 90% of my time in one of the worst places for Pokemon, so I need to hatch eggs to have a chance to get new species.

In my opinion, in the current game the only reason to attack gyms is to get coins to buy incubators to hatch the eggs.

I would welcome a change where you can earn coins in a different way (maybe visiting pokestops or completing quests) and gym combat is somehow geared for training and thereby improving your pokemon.

So I like your idea that you train pokemon so they can learn new moves.

If mons can learn two charge moves here, it could be one single-bar and one multi-bar charge move. When you have enough energy for multi-bar charge move but not enough for single-bar charge move, you use multi-bar charge move by default. Otherwise, you use single-bar charge move.

Oh dear, this would screw up my fighting style. My favorite attackers into Gyarados are a Jolteon "Railgun" with Thundershock and a Raichu "Power Mode" with Wild Charge. I let both bars charge completely, fire one charge attack, wait for the second bar to refill and finish with two consecutive charge attacks. This way, the Gyarados receives his energy from damage taken as late as possible. In many cases, this way he is not able to send even a single charge attack of his own.

As I've mentioned before, they should add status side effects for charge moves, that'd make the game more interesting and some types (like Poison) more relevant without changing much of the mechanics.
