Should I power up Flareon?

I have a 93% Flareon with best moveset Fire Spin/Overheat. I want to power it up to use it as an attacker. Should I wait for the gym rework before powering it up or should I just do it now?

The Flareon is currently about 1.5k CP (powered it a few times already).

I would wait. Who knows what could happen? They could nerf overheat in the rework. The rework should be coming pretty soon.

Second this. I've invested way too much dust--twice, in fact--right before major nerfs. The first time, they nerfed Lapras after sinking 80-100k dust and all of the accompanying hard-fought Lapras candy...

And the second time, I learned the hard way after spending dust to get 3-4 Exeggutors to level 34-35+, a few Poliwraths to the mid 30s (damnit, Bubble....), an Arcanine to 35ish, a SW/DP Dragonite to 36.5....

So much candy... so much dust... =(

Might as well do it. Best fire attacker currently. I would power it up to level 30 if I had one. Unfortunately ALL of my good moveset Flareons have low IV's.

IVs don't matter a whole ton for attackers though, you could do it anyway.

My best advice with respect to power up questions: how exactly do you plan to use him? I see that you want to use him as an attacker, but are there particular Pokémon in your local gyms that are weak to fire? And what are their CP? It would be good to try battling with him a few times to see if your current CP level is sufficient, or if you just need to squeeze a little bit more power to be able to fight properly it against your local gyms.

True, something may change and render your Pokémon useless, but that really only happened once in my opinion, and only affected a few Pokémon. Such as Lapras, etc; In my experience, I enjoy playing the game with the situation I have and if a major change happens, I try to adjust accordingly to continue enjoying the game. Even if I spend 100K stardust, in about a month I should be able to recoup that full amount.

So otherwise said: power him up if you're just losing out on a few gym battles and need that extra boost, or power him up if you really like him and would simply enjoy having a powerful Flareon

Flareon is a good generalist attacker just like Vaporeon, just that it has high attack instead of high stamina for Vaporeon.

Agreed, but I've just found in my current situation I never choose him in my attack lineup. So I have a few hanging out around level 20 that I haven't found the need to power up.

Yes I would because even after the rework it will still be a strong attacker unless overheat is nerfed badly but because of flareon high nase att it will most likely stay an elite attacker.

I would power it up to 5000 or 6000 dust. Currently the best pokemon I have (defenders) are raised up to 6000 (Meaning when it shows "6000" I stop powering up. That is around level 30-31. It's funny because people say 30.. and how the fuck do they know when it's 30.. I think it's better to refer to DUST.

Aaaaaaaanyway. I will use it as a defender also There are no FIRE pokemon in gyms and it's cool. So whenever I can I drop my Flareon in some gym. It's no use to have always the same and it's plain booring. Tried to level up my Typhlosion too but it dissapeared from all spawn points in the city.. I mean.. There was a nest 4 months ago and then it absolutely dissapeared. Bye

I would probably power him until he can defeat a max Blissey with 10% HP left, or 6000 dust, whichever is higher.

definitely 100% power him up. He melts blissy and snorlax! Keep in mind overheat has a long cast time just don't get caught off guard and get squashed. I absolutely love mine and once you get us timing down right you can to beat anyone

It depends if you have dust to blow. He's a great attacker into Blisseys. But if you want to wait you can power him up just a bit more and use him as a prestiger against 2500-2600CP Blisseys.

I'm currently trying to save up dust to see if they actually do anything with this gym rework. I've blown a lot of dust and wasted it on mons that are now useless.

I assume Flareon will still be a great attacker after the gym rework but I guess you never know.
