One mantine away from quitting the game!

I am a legit rural player, love the consept of the game but can't stand the unfair balance.
Fact: I am a lv 35 trainer. Haven't seen a single dnite, snorlax, lapras, larvitar, chansey/blissey in the wild. All my good pokes have been hatched, the only way I can get them. Hatching is the only way I can close the gap on city players and cheats. I've hatched over 1500 eggs, thats alot of cash used on incubators. The majority by far are those fucking mantines and pinocos. Fix the fucking balance or make up for the disadvantage us rurals have!

One more mantine and I am out!

Regards,
Pissed off trainer

Interesting, I would've thought the rural players are the ones who get random dragonites and lapras snorlax.

I'm a city player and I have seen 1 Chansey wild, 1 Dragonite wild, 3 Snorlax wild, 0 larvitar, but plenty of dratini/dragonair.

And as a rural player you get to keep gyms much better. I can barely hold 3 as a city player.

No, we really have a disadvantage. To catch anything near my house, I have to use incense ($) and don't get any rares, nearest stop 2 miles, nearest decent park with gyms 4 miles.... (I happen to be on the dominant team, Mystic, which helps). City players have a great advantage, and if I didn't work in the city and drive there to play fairly often, I might have given up long ago.

Level 32. From my perspective, you couldn't be more wrong. I live in a small town (10000 people) with about a dozen accessible stops and 4 gyms total. I've seen 1 wild each of Lapras, Chansey, and Snorlax (saw it on the sightings, couldn't get it). Never seen any wild dragon. As far as gyms go, they turn over multiple times a day because there are only 2 that are easy to get to.

I've gotten to where I am because of: eggs, events, eggs, attacking those gyms every day, more eggs, and the buddy system. I know I could travel more and spend more money, but my "real life" doesn't allow either of those things. I still love the game though!

Sounds a lot like my town. My town is something like 8000 people, 13 pokestops and 4 gyms. They all turn over every day except for one gym with 4 Blisseys. There are not a ton of Blisseys in the gyms here - seems like everyone who had one on team Valor put theirs in that gym.

However, I have NEVER seen a wild Chansey, Blissey, Snorlax, Lapras, Tyranitar family or Dragonite family in my town. Not even once. Infact, except for Dragonite family, I've never seen any of those in the wild anywhere, despite working in a fairly big city.

My point is independent of spoofers. As a rural player you can sit on your couch and get free coins every day provided you find one day to stick 10 pokemon into 10 gyms (that bit of initial travelling is required but after that you are set) Very rarely do you need to attack or prestige gyms once your mons are already there. I need to attack every day to keep my coins as a city player.

And it sucks that your city has spoofers, mine doesn't, or at least there is enough legit players on my team to make them think it's not worth bothering.

You're joking, right? I live in a rural area, and the only time I was ever able to collect more than once in a row from any of the gyms around me was when we were so snowed in over the winter that no one could drive to the gyms.

Without horrible weather, I have to hit each gym every single time I want to collect from it. Often multiple times, even, because I start getting kicked back out within minutes and have to cycle back around as quickly as I can to hold more than one or two of them at the same time. With a lot of driving, a lot of lucky timing, and a LOT of potions, sometimes I can hit enough gyms quickly enough to collect from 5 or 6 of them in a day, then they're all gone again well before I'm even close to collecting again the next day. Typically, I can hit gym after gym after gym, over and over for hours, and I just keep losing them in the time it takes to drive to the next one, so eventually I give up and collect from 2 or 3 of them for the day, after I've wasted hours and drained most of my potions.

However, when I drive 25 or 30 miles into the city, I almost always find a few high-level gyms that I can prestige a bit, poke in a defender, then collect from effortlessly for days. I've had one Rhydon sitting in a gym 25 miles from me for three weeks now, the longest I've ever had anything go unchallenged.

That's why I really hope they don't implement that feature that's been speculated about that we'll have to physically travel to each of our defenders and feed them each day, because the only ones that ever last more than one day are nowhere near my home, and it's just going to put rural players at an even bigger disadvantage.

in larger areas different places tend to settle into being a teams "turf" so you can get stable gyms.

if in a single town you have maybe a dozen players fighting over 3-4 gyms.

then there is spoofers
then there is legit players taking a drive in the country and putting their maxed out blissey into a gym that a rural player has to try and take out with whatever they have managed to get (espeon and flareon would be best bets)

so no rural players do not get to hold more gyms,

I am regional rather then rural so used to have the same issue (a cluster of small townships that have started to bleed into each other in a holiday area) but not as bad. We used to have the issue of people coming in on the holidays and filling gyms with stuff high level dragonites and snorlax that we struggled to turf out.

I feel your pain. It's the same for me. Have to go to the city to find any decent pokemon in the wild. Spend a ton of money on incubators with not all that much to show for it. During my last hatch of 7 10km eggs simultaneously I got ONE larvitar and 6 useless mons. Niantic really need to remove all the useless mons from 10km eggs. It's essential.

Thats the thing, if there where more good stuff in 10km hatches the balance would even more out. It would encourage more walking and give us a fighting chance against a sniper army of DT/O dnites and the blissey hordes.

Most of the ones you listed are rarely in the wild...also, most people aren't San Francisco or Tokyo players so are in the same boat as you...I just got a Dragonite after Level 34...1st one. I have no usable Snorlax and took 33 levels to hatch 1.

Wife has no Lapras, I have hatched 3. If you are not in the desert/rock, you won't see Chansey at all...V-day made them nearly everywhere on my nearby.

I also don't have a Gyarados neither...Karps never spawn here so that's just how it goes depending on your biome.

I'd say if unhappy, just stop spending money...I'm sure hatching over 1500 eggs, your dex is better than most though...

I do want to say thank you to you and paying players for supporting the game...(for us free players.).

Without you, we'd have nothing to play.

I'd say not having Pokestops is the worst though...can't play the game with no Pokeballs and that is the biggest imbalance...

I justify spending some money this way:

(1) It's my exercise gym membership (have always hated gyms/health clubs but loved hiking/biking)

(2) Losing weight, feeling better, stress relief

(3) Love the game, thanks Niantic.

I hope that in the future more pokestops etc. will be added to rural areas.

He has good defense and good movesets, maybe he will be a boss after the gym rework.

How do you keep up with Pokeballs? I may live in a suburb area, but there is only one Pokestop in my sightings and I always have to be very picky as I never have any balls available to catch pokemon.

Chimera,
Forget trying to "close the gap" with city players. It is never going to happen.
Enjoy the fact that you can take a nice uninterrupted walks with out having to stop every block to wait for the green light.
The big city players near me can use a city wide tracker on a web site all day and get wicked mons. I can't, my small city does not have one.
I'm ok with that.
I play because it gets me out and about on long walks.
I know people around me have amazing maxed out Tyranatars. I don't have one yet, but that won't stop me from taking my long weekend walks.

good luck and hang in there,

Exactly. The disadvantages of big city living outweigh the advantages (until this game, IMO, there were none!)

They should really make the regionals (except for Farfetch'd, Mr. Mime and Corsola) and Machop inside 10 kilometer eggs.
Corsola inside 5, Farfetch'd and Mr. Mime inside 2.

Consider removing Pineco, Sudowoodo, Mantine and Gligar from 10.

In my opinion:
Pineco – ultra rare 2
Sudowoodo – uncommon (normal) 5
Mantine – rare (normal) 5
Gligar – ultra rare 5

I like it. After the event that put things like Lapras in 2k eggs, they have no excuse not to change it up.

I understand that rural players are in a huge disadvantage in terms of spawn points, pokestops, etc. But in terms of your complaint I don't see anything unfair compared to 95% of legit players living in cities.

Fact: I am a lvl 35 trainer. I play in a city and travel every so often to another with a completely different biome (which is great). I haven't seen a single dnite, larvitar, blissey in the wild. I have only seen 1 snorlax (1 more in sightings inside a closed park in the middle of the night, so not accesible...) and 3 chansey in the wild (2 chansey during the pink event). All my good pokes have been hatched, the only way I get them. I've hatched over 1200 eggs (300 less than you). That's a lot of walked Km (I only spent some money at the very beginning to level up quickly). See? Not a big difference...

What makes the difference is that I never run out of pokeballs or crappy pokemon to get stardust. That is very unfair for rural players and I really hope that Niantic fix it.

Im a city player so can't fully empathise but man those mantine hatches really are heartbreaking. Same with the gligars. At least you can evolve the pinecones, but imo they should all be removed from 10k eggs.

What was in 10k eggs during the easter event is the way it should be.

i got you, i live in a rural area with no pokestops and no gyms, to play better i have to go to other city

I'm lvl 32 and got first snorlax recently hatched. Only 444 eggs hatched as don't spend money. 10km eggs are painfully rare for me, but my prize mon is 100% machamp with ideal moveset. Am currently 290km in to buddying larvitar. Started playing cause liked to walk anyway and daughter joined me up to valor. She quit at level 23. Solo player so if gym rework involves lots of team co-op don't know where that will leave the likes of me. At most I can take down a level 7 gym. I don't even know how to find "trackers". LOL

To be honest, Niantic does not seem to even care about rural players, so I suggest you save your money.
