Put extra time in only to be cursed by the RNG Gods :(
I've put in months of walking and waiting for the right CP of Cyndaquil before I evolved him. Recently got a 834 CP Cyndaquil and was so happy but when I evolved it into Typhlosion I got the moveset....... Shadow Claw (ghost) and Solar Beam. :( All that hard work only to have a grass type fire pokemon :(
So question is: What's one Pokemon you grind only to be cursed by the RNG God's?

I evolved two typhlosions with the same moveset after farming a cyndaquil nest (they don't spawn here at all otherwise). I was disappointed at first, until I came across one in a gym.
I found that SB was very effective against my mon who never had a chance ;) I don't think these are bad moves at all.
i think the most common RNG torture is Machamp for the following reasons
- it have no close second alternative
- it takes 125 per try
- you have 2/6 chance for double fighting move and 1/6 for the aimed one ( C/DP)
- it took me around 10 tries to get my C/DP machamp
- moveset is the main variable in any attacker
By any chance are you evolving them around the same time of day, maybe on the same location?
That randomness must be based on something and maybe Niantic implemented a "proprietary" random algorithm for 1/6 movesets. I started to evolve important mons random :), meaning when I have all the prerequisites. This way the time and the location can be quite different. I now have 2 non Psychic Exeggutors (alongside the 6 P ones). Did not yet tried with Rhydons to escape RT/SE series (5 of them, even the 6 one caught wild).
4 for 4 of venusaur Not getting solar beam
2 for 2 on machamp not getting double fighting moves since event ended (and its very difficult for me to get machop candies only gen 1 Pokémon I didn't have was machamp when the new moves came out)
And I've evolved bunch of poliwhirls into poli wraths tryna get a mon with Dynamic punch and still have not
7 Rhydons only one with my desires moveset (mudslap and stone edge) and I caught this one in the wild it's below a 50iv and it's cp is like 1300
evolved a few mons tonight
100% dratini got hyperbeam (felt like a kick in the guts)
98% level 30 houndor snarl/crunch
95% charmander got air slash fire blast
98% valpix got solar beam
90% high cp alakazam go shadow ball (again)
93 % geodude MS/RB
93% kingdra DB/HP
several others but you get the idea and that was just tonight.
I am starting to think that there is something built into the algorithm that forces suboptimal moves on 100% mons I have had several and all of them get fail moves.
You may end up happy with this moveset in the future. If sounds like a future legacy moveset to me and really surprising one day. I got 2 fire moves (ember/fire blast) and not a darned thing i can do with it except stare at it in my pokedex. I'm almost tempted to evolve another Cynq just to try to get these odd ball moves. BTW, I also have fireblast on my slowking :)
I hurts now but since solar beam COVERS ALL THREE OF ITS WEAKNESSES-it will be a nasty wild card in PvP.
puts in typhlosion
opponent switches in golem, rhydon, or vape
typholosion uses solar beam
opponent eats a mouthful
Edit: what aSp said. There are a lot of mons that have good counter movesets, but the way Go works now where your opponent doesn't switch out, there is little benefit.
