Grass event yawn?

So, a swarm of low IV grass type that seam to be harder to catch than they were a couple of days ago. Is it just me, because I feel like skipping this event and just collecting my daily bonuses?

Play however you want to play...don't like the event, skip it...

Event is fine...esp for people who never see grass types.

Do as you wish.
Personally, I've only caught about 60 Exeggcutes before the event (they are rare here, and were still somewhat rare during the Valentine event), so I will gladly take the opportunity to farm them.
Besides, I still want some high IVs grass Pokemon for my collection, soooo....

But that is the point. I think high IV are very rare right now. So it is basically just farming candy for pokemon that have their attack/dodge/escape rates boosted. Feels like a resource burn.

High IV are very rare in general, not just now or during an event (given an assumption I mention below), if hatches are excluded (and I don't think the grass spawns affect eggs although I could be wrong).

For example, pokemon that get the highest appraisal category from the team leaders have about 82% IVs, but that does not mean that 18% of wild pokemon fall in that category. If you assume that every wild pokemon encountered has equal odds of obtaining any value of 0 to 15 in each IV, then the actual percentage of wild pokemon with 82+% IV is only about 3%.

And that's just for the 82% and higher category. I know some trainers prefer 91% IV+, and in that case the odds of encountering a wild pokemon with those IVs are about 0.5%.

The odds are much higher for hatches (50% chance of 82% IV+ and just over 9% chance of 91% IV+ assuming a minimum of 10 for each IV), but the Grass event spawns are not going to meet most people's criteria for high IV.

Yeah sorry, I read too fast regarding the swarm of low IV grass types.
Sorry mate, but it's just you / you're area... Caught some good IV Pokemon yesterday, for different species, and both wild and out of lures...

Problem is around here no grass pokemon can stay in a gym. I have a 2800 CP Exeggutor with C/SB, and even it tends to get bumped out of the bottom of gyms. I save it and tend to use it as an attacker.

The whole gym thing is what it is...It has nothing to do with Grass types and at the end of the day, gyms are EASY to tear down.

"1" determined trainer can make a gym never last...Even with 10 Blisseys, if someone wants to keep tearing it down and spend all their time doing that, no gym will last...

Bots/spoofers will make it a lot of work, but if that's the case, you have some people reverse bot and go bot-vs-bot too.

Since no human can actually defend a gym or use any skill to do it, you just hope your gym is off the beaten path and is stagnant...

Not sure how I feel about the whole gym rework since I get decent benefits currently, but it'd be nice if you can do quests or some other things for rewards so you don't need 10+ gyms. Maybe 5 gyms max for everyone, more daily quests or week/month quests, etc...

Really lacking actual content currently.

It's a fine event, I wish it lasted longer because I have more time off in the days after it ends. It's nice to have a different variety of mons to catch but as there is no shiny I'm not going to bust my butt for it.

It's not super exciting, but seeing increased spawns of some normally rare grass types (for the local area) makes it a generally enjoyable experience.

Can't say I've noticed any real difference in capture difficulty, and admittedly I'm more interested in the candy rather than finding a good 'mon so I haven't been paying much attention to IVs.

I think this event is actually pretty decent compared to other events. Yeah it would of been nice if they threw in double candy or stardust but it is what it is. The event overall is good for people that don't have these types of mons in there area unless it's at a nest and the fact we're getting the evolved forms of these mons too spawning at very high rates makes it that much better and we get 6 hour lures so overall good job niantic. Also who can complain about catching low iv tangela's because I can't think of a good reason not to stock up on tangela candys.

Has anyone even seen a Tangela?

I watch my Nearby a lot and didn't see one yet. Just a lot of Bulbasaurs, Chikarita, Bellsprout, etc...

I did catch a Jumpluff which was new for me though. I have no complaints with this event...better than no event right?

Haven't seen a single lure used yet though.

I've caught acouple so far from this event but most of them were in random areas and had pretty bad iv's and cp.

Only one I've caught that was good was one I caught last night near my most common playing area that usually spawns good stuff 1669cp 89%iv and has VW/GK so im happy with this event so far.

I like these short events - they make a change if nothing else.

In my area grasses aren't common so it's doublely welcome. I might even finally see a Sunkern.

I finally evolved my pokemongo careers 3th venusaur and got vine whip + sludge bomb :)

For me this event is over now and im happy, this moveset is good for dodging.

I like the idea of this event just fine. My only hope is when it is a type that isn't my biome (I'm water/grass) those mons won't be crazy rare. For me this event basically doesn't exist though. I'm not kidding, other than what appears to be a minor increase in eggs it's like there's nothing going on lol

same here grass is common for me anyway with stone not far behind (and of course poison oh so many nidorans/ekans etc) it's a non event for me.

All it's doing for me so far is decreasing the variety of things I see. Grass types were common anyway, so now I'm just seeing endless Sunkerns, which were already #1 on my ignore list.

they are completely useless, pointless in battle, you can't even evolve them for xp because of the need for sunstone and to top that off the catch rate isn't that fantastic either ie. a complete waste of balls.

So far so good for me:
1-2 dozen Bulbasaur, Oddish, & Bellsprout
A few first and second stage grass evolutions, rare and common
145CP Dragonair that I hit with a pineapple
My first ever Mareep standing 50 meters off shore in the middle of the ocean. And its a wonder!

I like it, it just falls on the days I work. I need a Meganium yet, so I am hoping I can get one of those. I'm also still trying for a SoB Venusaur. The Eggy candies are nice because I will be hitting level 37 soon, and I have 2 maxed Eggys that I will need to power up, plus I would like to max my attacking Eggy or get another high level attacker. I also caught a 100% Sunkern. I really don't have any complaints at all...maybe an additional day so I have one day I don't work on? Oh, some Tangela would be nice...

Considering we just had a major double XP event a couple of weeks ago, I think these short weekend events are a nice change of pace. I caught more Chikorita in the last 24 hours than I have since Gen2 game out and I'll be filling another spot in my Dex with a Bellossom before the end of the weekend, so all in all, I'd call that a success.
