Shiny Karp

So the nest migration brought a magikarp nest somewhat near me and I was wondering evolve this shiny cp 129 and iv 69% I already have a gyarados 78% non shiny DT/CR. The only reason I am asking is because I dont really like the look of shiny gyarados but I feel like I should evolve it for one for a move reroll and because he is the one of the rarest pokemon in the game by the way I have pleanty of pinap berries and a nest as I said so please dont talk about candies. Also in the summer I am going to visit my family that lives in a Water/Grass biome.

Where are you people finding all your shinies?!?! I live in a water biome with a regular supply of Karp and still no shiny :-(

I caught this one during the water event before I evolved my other one But I now am almost regreting it but not that much

I have caught 5 shiny, but I have also caught almost 4000 magikarp. They are along a trail that I use to bicycle commute to work. I can easily catch 50 in a day.

Yeah same here, still no shinnies and catch several karp almost everyday

Interesting observation: When I caught my shiny they were clustered in two (and the magikarp wasn't even in gold when you see it in the map!), so I don't know if it's related to the 'ditto cluster' theory that people came up with (i.e. if you see 3 pidgey one of them gotta be ditto), though ditto spawns are random now.

If you want a shiny Gary then evolve this magikarp.

I want a shiny gyarados because of the water event everyone has a gyarados but shiny gyarados on the other hand.

Then do it.
I evolved my highest cp shiny, it had terrible IVs.
Fortunately it got B/HP, so I can still attack with it.

I lucked out and caught a shiney magikarp at a nest not to far from my place. Unfortunately the IVs were 0a-4d-12hp. I just evolved it last night. The good thing is it is level 29 so I don't need to invest too much dust into it.

They are so rare the likelihood of me getting another is slim. So while it is only 35% IV I said what the heck.

It might only max out for my level around 2800CP but whatever. Live for now and show it off. 69% is pretty damn good for a shiney.
