WOW! Arcanine really a distant 3rd fire type now...

From the series of Funky sho videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDusWZhgVKo

Even a level 36.5 Arcanine doesn't out-DPS a FS/OH Charizard or Flareon.

I feel sad for my dogs :( Why are all the eeveelutions the best of their types :(

Remembering how happy I was when finally evolved fire fang/ fireblast on 96 IV. Now just a distant memory. I actually used him yesterday for the first time in quite a while because I needed a mon under 2536 to prestige against a blissy. Brings back memories.. ha he does just fine.

I know right! My dog was 2505 (level 30 Fire Fang Flame Thrower) pre-nerf, and was 2394 post-nerf. It was still my go-to choice for the egg man post-nerf (before gen 2), but now I choose to shut it down with FS/OH flareon (after the new moves introduced, it's more like a post nerf-nerf lol)

Still, I use it arcanine to fight the occasional snorlax and lower level Blissey.

Vs charizard, its fitting hes not as strong. Much easier to aquire and Charizard should be stronger than he is.

With flareon tho..dunno they just like evee i guess xD

I wouldn't say 'much easier to acquire' for arcanine vs charizard. It would only be easier for a desert biome (where growlithe are everywhere), for everywhere else like water biome, grass biome etc you'll be racing to see if you'll get the occasional growlith catch faster or the occasional charmander hatch more.

One possible argument for the eevee thing is that you're only going to have a very slim chance of getting the much loved Fire Spin/Overheat combination (to start with Flareon is 1/3, then to get FS/OH is 1/6, which is 1/18), so you will have to be realllly lucky to get one (though you can basically have unlimited tries!)

(I was extremely lucky and rolled FS/OH on my first eevee roll post-Gen 2)

I would definitely say Arcanine is much easier to acquire than Charizard given that the candy cost is 50 rather than 125 and Growlithe hatches from 5ks, yielding more candy than Charmanders from 2ks.

Also even in my desert biome, Growlithe is absolutely everywhere whereas Charmanders are still pretty rare. I only evolve L29-30 wonder Growlithes and have 12+ good Arcanines but am still trying to get a good Charizard.

Compared to the original Pokemon games he should be the strongest of the fire types. Arcanine is a semi-legendary that is only behind the legendarys and Dragonite/Tyranitar in total stats in the original games..

Well traditionally Arcanine is stronger than Charizard and Flareon overall in the Pokemon games... it is unusual to see him taking a backseat to a Flareon.

Exactly, was the strongest fire type non legendary mon for a long time in the games. Still my preferred fire type due to balanced stats

Arcanine has more remaining HP in all scenario.

charizard is the coolest and easily should be the strongest out of the three. i got lucky and got the fire spin overheat moveset on my first gen 2 evolve and that moveset is just beast. no such luck yet with flaeron tho :/. ive gotten fire spin and fire blast and then ember with overheat. just blows. wonder which moveset out of those two performs better. id assume the fire spin one but who knows.

Ember overheat better for attack while firespin fireblast better for defense. But then again, no uses Flareon for defense so ember overheat would be the better choice

but best margin of safety as far as health goes. but yep it would have been nice if they gave him some better moves

All of the three gen 1 eeveelutions should be nerfed and all of the starters should get a boost. Eeveelutions should be strong and useful, but not the very strongest of their type, IMO.

I still use my 2 Arcanines with FF/FB and love using them (2450CP and 2683CP). I like that they have more HPs and are tankier allowing for some error with dodging if something goes wrong.

I have 3 - 1600CP Flareon's that I use for prestiging vs Blisseys. I find I can get through 2 Blisseys with these three as long as the blisseys aren't 2900+. The Flareons are perfect for prestiging vs the mid gym Blisseys that sit around 24-2500CP. But they are like glass cannons and if you miss a charge move dodge or get the bug you are done.

Overall Flareons do a TON of damage but are glass cannons. No room for error so that is a negative against them.
