Grass biome/grass event

So I'm overloaded with grass pokemon in my biome. The only grass pokemon that excite me are bulbasaur and chikorita. I'm not complaining about the event though. I know many of you guys don't see much as far as grass pokemon go. I assume that someday I'll get my geodude/machop event!

My question is for those in water biomes who we're already swimming in Magikarp (pun intended) before the water event. How was that event for you guys and gals? Was it enjoyable or was it just more of the same? Was the water festival anything more than a shiny hunt? Give me some hope for this weekend!

Not to be debbie downer but IMHO the water event brought GPS spoofers to the water's edge looking for Lapras/dratini. What the end result was: what once was a string of gyms that had daily turnover turned into towers. I assume the spoofers took over the gyms and have not moved out.

that aside: it was fine. I still caught everything I could hoping for high IV, lvl 30 mons.

I have no idea how one could tell. TBH long before that event all of these spoofers in my area had maxed 100IV dragons, Blisseys, Tyranitars and everything else already in all of our gyms. Just my take ma'am but I doubt nerfing events like that does much at all to spoofers but it probably had a much larger impact on those with faaaaar lesser rosters and their ability to combat those super gyms. I agree with what you are saying, I don't think the spoofers got more great mons from the event, I think they came looking for lapras and overstayed their welcome.
Along the Bay Trail, when I bicycle commute to work, I could if I wanted to get into 10 gyms each morning and retake them in the evening. Now everything is a yellow or blue tower of 10.

I'm hoping there's a hidden component to this event because I've been drowning in Grass since launch. Though to add insult to injury, after countless Venusaurs, I still don't have Vine Whip Beam...
