It happened to me once. During that time, my friend was in UK and I was in US both logged into the same account at the same time. So every Mon we tried to catch flee during that time. Based on the color circle on the PokeMon, you would like to use different strategies. I guess you just came across a high level PokeMOn with hard red circle. Poor boy

Does anyone else think the tougher catching of Pokemon is now far too hard?
I missed a flippin butterfree. I caught it 12 times where it broke out and I actually had two great throws and 6 nice throws using berries and great balls. It ran away. Really? Since the patch, I remember throwing 15 ultraballs at a low level squirtle that kept jumping out and I eventually caught it. I wasted a ton of normal and great on a pidgey and soon ran out of Pokeballs. I changed my game to only catch pokemon under 100cp that i already own and it is doing the trick. Also the higher level ones seem to be a little easier to catch since the update now. I suspect they have loosened up the difficulty a bit.
I found a wild magikarp and had to throw raspberry after raspberry and wasted 8 flippin' great balls at it (it was an 18 cp magikarp...) when I first updated the game xD
Yes, I do think it's far too hard now. However, I found that you don't have to throw the pokeball within the changing circle(green/orange/red one) but out of it. I get lots of xp from nice/great/excellent throws I didn't do where I threw the ball outside the changing circle.
