Go International

Anyone know how to verify if a particular country has Pokemon Go available and if so what regional mon would be expected there? Specifically, I'm planning a trip to Tahiti (French Polynesia) this summer and am wondering if gaming there would be an option.

You can pick up a corsola. Otherwise enjoy your vacation and sit on the beach, not your phone.

It's really strange but I'm traveling through Java Indonesia. Currently I'm in Karimunjawa island and there seem to be no pokestops nor Pokemon spawning whilst in Java Pokémon is playable. I don't know about french Polynesia but maybe it won't work there either.

I'm currently also traveling in Indonesia and everywhere I went I could find some Pokestops, although more are located near the coasts in general. Haven't been on Java yet tho.

Haha I am sir. What a coincidence, because now I do recognise your tag as well.

I'm currently in Bali and leaving tomorrow back to NL. I managed to be in 8 more or less stable gyms here, 3 more than Rotterdam because valor is getting dominated by the other 2 teams there.

I like the diversity of Pokemon here in Bali and of course Corsela. How much longer are you going to travel and how's your Pokemon journey been here in Indonesia?

Too bad you're leaving again. I am traveling for 5 months and started in Australia. Caught some khan's ofcourse and some Corsola in Indonesia.

But Australia was crazy with spawns. Especially in the big cities. Loads of gen 2 starters, gen 2 evos (caught a 91% Feraligatr), aerodactyls and some other rare pokes which are not common at our place. I am not really into the gyms because I find them utterly boring, so I focus on my Dex and some nice catches. Not playing too much here tho but still looking for a farfetch'd.

Did you catch any significant there?

Wrote an entire reply then accidently hit the back button :D

5 months is an amazing time to travel. I have been to Chile during our winter months and caught some heracross and machop which help me big time fighting against Blissey spoofers that were recently active.

To give you my Bali adventure: yesterday, I probably did one of my most retarded things out of my life. I went in the middle of the night on a walk to conquer some gyms. Walked on a road without lights and footpath, walked through favellas that scared the hell out of me and I got attacked twice by wild dogs where after I decided to go back haha. Meanwhile I was more than an hour away from my hotel. I didn't even manage to take a single gyms because they were all located at unattainable places. Great ?

There is a lot of diversity here bu i didn't capture too many special Pokemon, besides a few Corsela. 2 low CP tengela, low CP Feralegater, 3 larvitar, few Pikachu and a mareep were my best carches in Bali.

Due to Chile I managed to get a wild aerodectyl and many other needed for the Gen2 dex. This was really necesarry as you might know how bad Zevenkamp is to play in as the main spawn are solely pidgey and other crap mon.

Would be nice to meet up some time once you are back.

Haha Indonesia is not the best place for hunting. I haven't found a larvitar yet so maybe you got lucky haha. Maybe we'll meet a gym some time!

Yes, there are pokestops in Tahiti. Just use something like https://www.pokemongomap.info/ and search for Tahiti. That will show you where pokestops and gyms are located. It is NOT a scanner, so you won't see which pokemon are there (I'm against using scanners). As you can see almost all of the stops are in the Papeete area at the northwestern part of Tahiti.

If there are no stops or spawns just load up on balls and exploit incense!
