I just want to thank GamePress and the community for everything. I've quit the game now, I had a blast. Dealing with Niantic and dealing with cheaters is not worth it for me anymore, I've already reached the peak of the game. I've dunked on so many L40 players in my neighborhood (most of whom are unoriginal cheaters) it's not even funny, I ended with over 5K gym winnings, nearly 4K prestige battles. All legit, single account, no trackers, no spoofing, no BS. I finished all the medals I wanted to, and I maxed out two Charizards. I've got to invest my time elsewhere now in the real world. It's been (lots of) fun.
For my last day I spent the day on Roosevelt island with a team of Mystic players and we took down almost every gym on the island, I made some new friends and it was great fun playing with 5 people in the same gym! 3K+ CP Tyranitars in under 3 seconds! The gyms are already back to Instinct, but we made them work for it! :D That's one of the best parts of this game is getting out and meeting new people.
Again, GamePress, you do solid work and I really appreciate all the effort you put into this site, it made the game much more enjoyable for me. Also, the community here is on point, thanks again! Take care.

I salut you sir. Respect for your work. I know one day I will follow your path. Hopefully I'll reach level 40 and obtain the medals before Gen3 get released. Good luck with life and all, wish you the best.
I agree that Gamepress is one of the very few, maybe the only one, non-toxic communities I came across with in my life. Perhaps consider browsing this website to keep sharing your knowledge.
Sad to see you go.
I made it there very late and didn't know where to go or who was on what team so I just kept to myself went a bit north and just attacked the 3 gyms next to the bridge.
I didn't bother going far north or far south as when I checked the gyms there were a trainers in there with maxed out perfect IV defenders. Seriously, just how many perfect IV Tyranitar, Snorlax and Dragointe can 1 gym have?
What made me leave before going south was I saw Instinct taking back over the gyms. Its just too far to travel and too much hassle to deal with when the lowest defender in a level 10 gym in at 33xx CP.
I'm going to keep playing for a bit more and see what Gym rework has to offer.
Thanks, man.. Sorry we missed you today, for sure it would have been great to team up. And yeah, it was intense, every gym we took we'd stack and it would be down (or crippled) in minutes. I have one 3100+ CP Blissey and I'd put in the gym every time and by the time we finished the next gym I'd have it back already lol. We had a couple L40 Instinct spoofers following us around!
I wanted to stay longer but I'm on a new phone which doesn't have a swappable battery like my old one, and I left my charger at home!!
I suggest you invest in one of these:

I have one and can keep playing all day before my phone battery starts depleting from 100%. Best investment I ever made :)
I usually have 2 phones and a hotspot attached to it and can play for about 8 hours
Thank you so much for the replies. That's what I'm talking about, an actual community here!
To be clear, I'm not judging anyone, I'm just at a point IRL where I'm transitioning out of undergrad so I need to deal with that and my GF also needs more attention, it just makes sense for me to put down the game for a while, at least until I'm settled. Then who knows, it's possible I'll play again and by that time I'm sure everyone will be L50 :D But now that I think about it again, 333-blue, if they ever release Rayquaza (the last pokemon I liked in Gen 3) I'll probably go hunting with my GF :D
Which reminds me of something that gave me a laugh a few weeks ago, in my neighborhood there was a guy I'd see in gyms going by the name of something like WifeH8sPokemon ahaha. I'm just lucky my GF tolerates it, and even plays a little!
If you change your attitude toward this game, you might still have chance to enjoy it again.
1. Let Pokémon Go take you to new places and keep those Pokémons as your souvenir, not as your battle tools;
2. Like Gary, become a Pokémon reseacher. Collect every Pokémon with all different movesets and compare them one by one.
3. Studying courses related with random signal processing or probability theory and use those in Pokémon go.
4. Getting level 40 means you are very persistent and achieving person so go ahead and use that on something more useful.
5. Most of all, Level of this game is just a number and you can't put that on your real-life resume. So stop giving power to that. A quote from Fightclub, the things you own end up owning you. Don't let that happen to you.
As a note for all level 40 players, please don't think other players would look up upon you. They would only think you are good at grinding. Who do you think people respect more? Nick from Trainertips who is only level 33 or Reversal who is almost level 40?
Reversal have already past LvL 40 weeks ago.
Most people follow Trainertips because he plays the game casually while out and don't really grind. As for Reversal, this guy just constantly grinds popping lucky eggs, always incubating, always lures and don't really offer anything informational like Trainertips. It makes me think like don't he have a real job?
Do you think that everyone will pick the same YouTuber as you?
I won't go into it, as neither are here to retort (and if they are they won't reveal themselves), but don't assume everyone will answer the same as you do.
...and the respect I have for either of them has very little to do with their PoGo level.
Ironically, the point about PoGo level is the exact one you were making.
So I agree with the point...just not the way you made it.
Best post ever on GamePress! And so eloquent! Loved the song. You came at this from an early history of playing Pokemon games. I came at this (I am 64) from the history of being the father of a young boy, nearly 20 years ago, that I drove to school every day, but who was always dragging his feet - saying "But Dad, I gotta catch the Pickachu!" So I composed and recited to him the following poem to urge him on:
Pichachu I'll barbecue;
Bulbasaur I'll smash;
Then I'll take the rest of them;
And throw them in the trash.
Now, I so regret my insensitivity to all things Pokemon, and I take it all back. I love you Pickachu. Bulbasaur, I care for you, but I wish your stats were better.
And, LBrouwer, invest some time with your GF. It can lead to great things, like sons or daughters that kick ass in Pokemon games and a buddy better than the best buddy you ever walked in Pokemon Go. I know. Been there. Done that. Never retiring from that game.
