Idea of new gym system! Tell me what you think about it!

Hey guys!

By now Niantics' update has disappointed players all the time.
Last update noobs couldn't hit the gyms because no pokemon strong enough.
By now advanced players can't play with their beast anymore because it is too easy to take gyms down.
Stardust becomes useless then... there is no point powering up a pokemon if it can't defend.
And on the other side there is no need to power up an attacker if there is no defender in the gym...

Well guys, I came here to purpose a solution which will allow every players to play the game.

My idea is to create gyms by:
- POKEMON's level. Not players' level but pokemons'!
- Also balance the prestige gain/loss...
- a pokemon can stay maximum 48 hours in the gym. A lot of players were complaigning about the fact that they couldn't put their pokemons because it was always the same guys in.
Depending on the area, teams are not as actives as expected, and sometimes defenders are staying for ever. Even if you are in the same team, you can't join the gym because there is no more room for you...

For example:
You have 10 gyms in your Town:
- 2 gyms for pokemons lvl 2 to 10,5
- 2 gyms for pokemons lvl 11 to 20,5
- 4 gyms for pokemons lvl 21 to 30,5
- 2 gyms for pokemons lvl 31 to the max.

What does it mean?

Everybody can play.
Players from lvl 1 to lvl 40 can have their pokemons in a gym.
Even the strongest players can use a weak pokemon he didn't know what to do with!
Who doesn't have a raticate CP 800 with hyperbeam? :P
And this Guy won't be able to rule the gyms for ever thanks to the 48 hours delay.

How do you think this can work?
Is it fair enough for all players?
Is the idea of the "48 hours" a good solution for areas/team activity issue?

If you like this suggestion if you can get in touch with Niantic, please let them know about it!

Thanks ;)

PS: sorry for any mistakes, english is not my mother tongue^^

Balance prestige gain/loss is the only way to go. The rest of the things you said is just pure bullcrap.

Low level pokemon shouldn't be in gyms. I played hard to get on level 33, I've earned the right to put my pokemon on whatver gym I want.

thinking about you and only you is not a solution...

This is not because YOU are lvl 33 that the game is going to live longer.

If only strong players are ruling the game, most of the noobies are going to quit.
Or one day you are also going to stop playing.
If there is no new players and If the oldest got bored and quit as well, there is no future to the game.

Making everybody participate is better than having only a few elite players in the area have the last Word.

Moreover I am sure that you have evolved pokemons that you are not using at all.
They have the perfect movesets and good IVs but you don't power them up because you focus on your "beats"...
A golem CP 1500 for example?
Or a pidgeot CP 1200?
Who knows...

This system with pokemon levels will allow you to finally use them in the appropriate gym.

The idea of having people above me is a motivator. If you are discouraged by the idea of having someone above you instead of driving you to be better and improve your pokemon and strategy then maybe playing online games isn't for you.

As for the lower level pokemon your fix doesn't really solve the issues like how a high level bedrill will never be able to stand with a high level dragonite. It's not about level, because if the gyms are based on pokemon level then people will just have low level of the same pokemon and you'll see level 10 vaporeons and exeggutors in those gyms.

However I do like the idea of some sort of scaling based on gyms. What if instead of leveling them, defenders got CP boosts based on type? For example, in gym A rock types get a 20% CP boost whereas in gym B flying types get a 30% CP boost? Maybe the type and boost can change every few days, but if you put a pokemon in one you keep the original boost until it's knocked out?

I understand what you are saying but there is something to consider.
Some people are hardcore gamers and they are leading the gyms making other people have no fun with battles.
Not everybody is going outside everyday to catch hundreads of pokemon untill they have the perfect IV and moveset.
Think about parents that are taking care of their children.
Think about boys and girls who don't have cars and can only fight in a couple of gyms around because the others are too far. And also because their parents won't let them travel around too far.

I tried to find a solution which could fit for everybody.
But in the end, there is one point you mentionned which is totaly true.
Everybody is going to have lvl 10 vaporeon, exeggutor, etc.
In fact this is exactly like in pokemon challenges/contests for the first generation.
Everybody was bringing this team:
Tauros, staryu, dragonite, gengar, alakazam, chansey, snorlax.
They were the most common pokemon even if people had to bring lvl 50 pokemons.
The competitions' rules are "bring lvl 50 pokemons"? Well the guys are catching a new tauros lvl 50, à new staryu, and so on.
Levels of the pokemon had never been the solution to have weak pokemons in competitors' teams.

Lvl of the pokemon doesn't matter because as you said, a beedrill sucks compares to a dragonite.

What is important in my suggestion is that everybody can use their pokemons, rare, strong, evolved or not.
Of course there will be lvl 10 vaporeons such as dragonites. But it is a way to let the weakests have the fun they are looking for.
Having a level 10 vaporeon is easy to get, but not everybody can reach lvl 30 as fast as they want.

Everybody should have access to the game.
I don't understand why it should be only for strong players.
And by now the game is absolutely bullshit for them.
What I tried to suggest was an idea which could balance the game so everybody could be part of it.

Some online games have different servers where skilled/smart players are dominating the others.
But there are other servers for casual people as well.

For games like clash of clan, everybody can play because there is always an ennemy at the same level.

Why pokemon go should be only for an elite?

On a long term, there are only a few groups of organized dudes that are going to get bored hitting the same ennemies.
And they are going to quit one by one.
But the weakest players won't be there anymore. Not having the opportunity to play for weeks/months is going to make them feel like quitting for sure.
Or they are only going to feed hardcore gamers... untill they get bored and quit.

I like the basic concept here, but it might require players to travel across town to find a gym of the appropriate level. That, I don't like. Maybe if each gym had multiple level divisions that would work out better.

I like this idea, so hardcore can fight only with hardcore and nooby gonna fight with nooby. But I really want it to change the whole battle system, current system has no point to put good defender in the gym instead of high cp one.

I have another thing come up on my mind , ppl can use this gym holding for low lv as Module farming.

The only problem with this is then you'll have a bunch more people getting coins every day, which they'll never do, and they'd have to decide whether or not each level bracket could be owned by a different team or whether a team would own the entire gym or none of it. While it's an interesting experiment, I'm not sure it's practical.

I think that the problem would be the lack of gyms in most areas. We have here about 5-6 wich are in a good range to walk. But we have much more players just in one team.

I personel walk almost to just 4 and if you split them to different levels things are getting difficult.
I like your 48h concept because I get kicked out of gyms by my own team with there second accounts and those gyms last sometimes for weeks, this sucks, cause i dont wanna do the same asshole thing as they do.

You're right we need same changes here but a lot of things have to be considered before. Hopefully Niantic brings some cool stuff in near future.

Honestly? This system is GREAT man! In all of pokemon history, all games wanted to have ALL people playing equaly, and thats why niantic had this new update, to sweep around the selfish hardcore players. With your system, the selfish players can struggle together on their max lvl gyms while all the other players with less time/knowledge can have fun with game too. Beautiful idea man, beatiful.

not enough gyms in my area to make this workable

I have been thinking of a solution to this problem as well. What if each Gym still had 10 slots, but there would be 5 "tiers" of 2 slots in each gym.

Tier 1: 2 slots, Reserved for 2 Pokemon Levels 1-8.
Tier 2: 2 slots, Reserved for 2 Pokemon Levels 2-16.
Tier 3: 2 slots, Reserved for 2 Pokemon Levels 17-24.
Tier 4: 2 slots, Reserved for 2 Pokemon Levels 25-32.
Tier 5: 2 slots, Reserved for 2 Pokemon Level 33-40.

That is not fair for some lvl range that have more population and your first tier gonna be wasted for sure.
