Does Larvitar change to 10KM for one candy in buddy distances!!

These two days, I find a weird thing which my Larvitar gets 1 candy for 10 KM in buddy distances. Is this right? I remember it's 5KM in buddy distances.

have had the same problem today with Houndour. completed the 3km but the game did not registered the candy immediately. after a few minutes everything was ok (candy registered)

I've been walking one with none of these issues.

I am pretty sure I can't get a candy of the first 5km.
