What are your "Almost good enough for powering up" mons?

Hi folks,

Through our quest for perfect(ish) mons, Im sure we all come across "Just barely not good enough to power up, but maybe some day" Pokemon.

In This Thread we list them and others tell us if we should change our minds about any of them

My highlights are:

-Donphan 100% iV lvl 20 T/PR (Tackle!? so close...)

-Scyzor 96% iv lvl 20 FC/IH (Mixed type attacking moveset)

-Ursaring 87% iv lvl 22 C/HB (Great, but I already have a couple of good Machamps)

-Venusaur 96% iv lvl 20 RL/SlB (Optimal IV/MS for defence, but Low Max CP)

-Golem 96% iv lvl 20 RT/SE (Rhyhorn is super common arround here)

BTW I'm lvl 32

woop!
your Scizor and your Golem are absolutely power-up-able, they have great movesets

Rhydon doesn't have a rock quick move, as your Golem, can't compare them

Thanks for the input,
I think the for the Golem it's just a matter of time, for the Scyzor, what would it be best against?

vs exeggutor I use my FC IH
or Pinsir
FC builds energy fast, it s a good generalist attacker vs anything that doesnt resist bug

MoI couldn't have said it any better.
A dual-rock moveset on a Pokémon that gets stab will obliterate the legendary birds once they're released.

As for scizor, in my opinion, any mixture of steel and bug type moves is a good moveset. To answer your question: with the current way PoGo works (Where gym defenders are static (don't switch out)) it's optimal to have a Pokémon with two of the same move types to take advantage of SE. In this specific case, your scizor will tear a new one into jynx. In future gens it will good against the likes of abomasnow and cradily.

However, with the recently speculation of PvP "coming soon", I believe Pokémon with different move types (e.g. Your scizor) will perform better in PvP. An opponent may see you have FC and switch in a fairy type (e.g. Clefable) expecting to see it paired with X-scissor instead of Iron Head, and then you wreck it with the charge! Again these are made under assumptions, such as how PvP will work.

Getting back on track, I have the same scizor with lesser ivs and I still plan to power it up.

Your blissey isn't bad, people are just giving bad advice because you hijacked someone's post to show off.

This thread is called "almost good enough for powering up" and you put up a picture of a Pokémon well above level 30.

I have powered up a Scizor with FC/IH to lvl 31,5 to have a versatile attacking option against Exeggutor, and Tyranitar. Also powered up a Golem with RS/SE and I like him a lot.
I decided to power up my Donphan with C/PR even though at 2630 CP he's on the lower side of gyms, but I like having versatility in general.
For me at the moment I'm temted to power up my second Snorlax 89% (first has ZH/BS) with ZH/E, but I'm not sure if I should wait for one with ZH/HS or ZH/HP. I don't trust the Snorlax ranking here which has L/HB as a better defender than ZH/E...other ones are a Gyarados 96% with DT/C and a 93% with B/O. Already have 3 Gyarados with 90%+ IVs with DT/O, B/HP and DP/DB.

A ton of Nido-royalty. They were good in the beginning and I believe they'll shine again :D When Vaporeon is less common or weaker, lol.

OK, feed that Golem. Seriously. I keep mine maxed and never regret it.

I've got a BP/IH Scizor near max, and...eh. I'd like the candy back. It's a good generalist, but I rarely need that.

My 96% C/PR Donphan will get fed when I have enough candy to max him out to my level. On the same hand, I really want to max out Steelix (IT/HS), but am waiting to see how the gym rebalance works out.

Have a 96% RS/DP Poliwrath sitting there at L20, but my maxed-out legacy B/Sub does so well against Tyranitar, I haven't bothered yet.

My Confusion/Avalanche Jynx would be a luxury power up, as would my 100% Clefairy (to Clefable), but I'm waiting to see if they introduce Fairy-type quick moves first.
