Non-wonder Flareon with FS/OH

In the first few months, wonder Eevees were far more common, so I managed to acquire four wonder Vaporeons with WG/HP, three wonder Flareons with Ember/FB and two wonder Jolteons with TS/Thun.

During the Easter event, I evolved a few Eevees that caught Blanche's attention (for the XP) and now have a Flareon with FS/OH.

Although Exeggutor is common in my local meta, my Arcanine and Charizard deal with them just fine, so my only reason to power up a Flareon with FS/OH would be to deal with Blissey.

My current main options against Blissey:
A. Count/DP Machamp (luck; Machop is rare, buddy)
B. Conf/Solar Exeggutor (and weaker spares)
C. WG/HP Vaporeon (and weaker spares)
Dratini is easy to farm here, so a DT/Hurr or DT/OR Dragonite is just a matter of time (my current three all have SW). I have yet to catch or hatch a Larvitar.

With 130K stardust and 400+ Eevee candies, my three options are:
1. Immediately power up my non-wonder Flareon with FS/OH to add to my anti-Blissey team (that he would destroy Exeggutor is merely a nice bonus).
2. Patiently farm Eevees and evolve every wonder until I get a FS/OH Flareon to power it up (I am also seeking another Jolteon with a good anti-Gyarados moveset).
3. Neither. I do not need Flareon with FS/OH as an attacker/prestiger, given my current (and other potential) options.

I'd go for Option 3 as 130K stardust would be better spent on powering up other top tier mons more directly suited to counter Blissey.

Option 2 sounds the least viable, waiting for a wonderful Eevee and then being disappointed with the wrong moveset would be devastating!

Option 1 is also a possibility if you really want a good Flareon (although you don't need it because you have Arcanine and Charizard).

Regarding option 2, I am too familiar with that feeling! Evolved four wonder Poliwraths, got RS/HP, RS/HP, Bubble/HP and Bubble/IP. My three wonder Dragonites have SW/DP (good for defence), SW/HB and SW/Hurr. Was really fortunate to get Count/DP on my first Machamp.

What would you consider "top tier mons more directly suited to counter Blissey" worth powering up? I will spend another 22k stardust on my Machamp; need to walk another 54 km.

I know that feeling too mate... I haven't evolved a Vaporeon since Level 21 so highest is one with around 1800 CP with water pulse :(

As you already have a good Machamp, try going for Alakazam and Gengar. Although they are not great defensively, they have one of the highest attack stats in the game.

I would power him up. I have one and I had my doubts but he literally melts blissy and snorlax and eggy Power him up

I disagree. There's better options. I found a 87 IV, lvl 28 Eevee, evolved it to a FS/O flareon, and im not spending anything on it.

I would check out the stats. That combo does a huge amount of dmg and if one more person says "it feints before the match is up" LEARN TO DODGE

Option 3. I wouldnt call it a must have pokemon. It is a bit of a glass cannon and I tend to stray away from those. I have one around 2300 cp, and it does good damage, but faints quickly. If you are looking for one half of a kamakaze duo for Blissey, you could, but I think there are better ways to spend stardust.

2 is probably your best move. Keep evolving. In that time if you hit the right eevee you could also luck into a better Dragon or Tyranitar. I use my flareon rarely but it is because I have enough of the better options to work with.I do use him though. That said he is a fine mon and if I hit on a good one I'd have no problem dropping some dust on him.

FYI- B/SE Tyranitar is the mon you want to get eventually. Hopefully your hatches will come around. Mine routinely takes down 2+ thus saving me a lot of mon slots for high level gyms.Good luck man.

If the Flareon is at a CP that you can use for prestige, that is another reason to save it and wait for one with better IVs. If it is already too high for normal half-CP prestiging, say 1600~2000, then you could save it for prestige when a teammate annoyingly puts a small 2000 Blissey at the bottom of a gym.

If you already have multiple pokemon that can take on enemy Blisseys, then getting a F/O Flareon to go faster is just min/maxing. Might as well min/max a little further and wait for one with good IVs.

I keep non-wonders with good moves, I think my best Espeon is 70%+ with good Stamina and that's fine. But I can offer another reason not to power up the Flareon. If Overheat is so powerful every minmaxer here is out to get it, it might get nerfed.

I got a 75% FS/OH and have not been impressed with it. Definitely fragile. Still find my FF/FB Arcanine more useful generally.

  1. IMO...

You already have Blissey counters and Flareon is not a great sweeper due to low HPs. If you had to clear a full level 10 gym with multiple Blisseys, Flareon will at best, deal with 1 or less while Machamp, Tyranitar, Dragonite can deal with more assuming you aren't dodge bugged.

Also, 130k dust is very low IMO and you're better off evolving high level random Eevees for Exp and see if you can get a high level FS/O Flareon to use.

Even though I'm someone who will power up Eeveolutions (sp?), I usually do it when I am sitting on 800k+ dust and make sure the one I power up has the right moveset (so far, only did 93% Vap w/WG/HP and 97% Jolteon w/TS/TB). It IS nice to sorta be "done" with one of the Eevelutions until the next move/meta change so I don't have an issue with powering up attackers since dust is constantly replenished and feels good to use it on stuff you want/find fun.

I just caught a level 15 95% Eevee with 13/15/15 IVs and may use it for Flareon or Espeon, but not sure if I want to waste the dust yet (still have both name tricks)...I'm pretty patient as you can imagine...

I think "eeveelution" is the preferred spelling.

My eevee evolve strategy is to keep 1k candy, when I get to 1025 candy, evolve the highest CP one that I saved. I save above average ones with CP over 600, "caught my attention" ones over 400, and any wonder ones. I only power up the wonder ones when they evolve a good move set. The others, I use as is , or candy. My 2300 CP FS/OH came to me this way. It's IVs are so-so, but with some dodging, it can take out a blissey.
