[NYC players] The most well controlled territory

Mystic and Valor, we must unite forces.
There is an island off of Manhattan that is, in my opinion, the most well controlled territory most likely in the entire game. It is where the most hard core Instinct players spoof. The island is gold for Dratini spawns, so I've walked there many times, and every time I go to battle I'll take out one of the L10 Instinct gyms there, place my mon in the gym, and it is taken down instantly, (this is the middle of the night, mind you, and no one is around because you can see quite far on the island and of course it's surrounded by water!) I've never looked there and not seen ALL Instinct gyms. And I visit Queens a lot. This weekend I will be there and my goal is to flip all the gyms. I know it won't last, but I like to make the spoofers work for it :D. Where I play Mystic and Valor tend to butt heads a lot, and it would be nice to work together for a change. The cause is noble, kicking some spoofers out of gyms. I'm sure one or two of these Instinct players is legit, and I apologize to them for the collateral damage, but I think it will be fun. So if you're in NYC this weekend (and I'll post about this again later this week), and want to experience some ridiculous gym scenes let me know! The island has some beautiful scenery, in addition to having a gorgeous view of the Manhattan skyline. It's called Roosevelt Island, and if you are walking you have to enter from Queens, otherwise take the F train or the lift from Manhattan. Additionally, the weather (assuming the forecast holds), is supposed to be great. Maybe I'll see some of you there!

I'm pretty sure those accounts are partly controlled by a program as well so their owners don't have to be awake and logged in 24/7.
I know a few gyms that are controlled by bots just like you stated above. The same accounts fight and train the gym right after you took them down. No one's ever near the gym and the accounts move so fast from gym to gym you can't even beat them with a car.

Nonetheless, hope you find some players that are willing to fight against the bots with you!

If it is "instantly" taken back and built back up, then it is not merely spoofers. It is several bots fighting together and prestiging at the same time. At best you trying to fight their gyms is putting a little load on their computers and internet connection. If you know anyone that is another team than you, they could join the fight after the bots start fighting down your gym and see how many are fighting.

I'll swing over there around lunch and see what's going on. As for going over there at night? Nope. That F train is unreliable and it's one stop too close to Queensbridge Projects lol. The whole one bridge in one bridge out is a deterant too, same reason I don't go to city island or Staten island. I like multiple ways out of an area lol.

Ahaha, I hear ya, I've played in some sketchy places, even near a shooting in Harlem the other week! A lot of times I'll play at night at Roosevelt, but this weekend I'll probably be there during the day. I'll post when I go so perhaps I'll see you there!

I know Roosevelt Island very well. I'm from NYC and from Brooklyn. Been to the GAP at Central Park South and Bryant Park numerous times after work. I totally agree with you with no other player around but the gyms are being taken over. I live directly across the street from a gym. If I sit in my living room, I'm in the vicinity. This could be the case for the gyms when you do not see a player on the street but are actually in an adjacent building.

Yeah, no I get that it's not always obvious. The gym in particular I'm referring to is the Lighthouse Park at the North end of the island, you can check Google maps and see, there is no way it's that. Even if it's GPS drift, it's still too far. I have about 5K gym battles (not even including training battles), I'm well aware people battling are not always visible :D I chose this gym in particular because it's in the wide open area with no where to not be seen.

There are gyms on LA like that as well. Immediately after taking down a gym it gets retaken. And within hours they are back to level 10s

Yeah, that's how it goes... The next day it's all back to the same color and L10 again!

As some of you mentioned, it's a strong possibility that there is botting going on, but I actually didn't get that impression for whatever reason the last few times I was there. I've definitely dealt with bots before and this felt more like spoofing to me. Even if I / we don't get to flip all the gyms, it's still a good time and a chance to stock up on some Dratini, enjoy the nice weather, get some exercise, and maybe even meet a few other players. I have a L40 friend who might come, I'm not sure he wants me to mention him by name but if you're on the UWS/Harlem you probably know him :D It's (usually) fun meeting other high level players.

Its very weird here but I guess they figure out how to maximize their daily bonus. They picked a location that not easy to get to and just spoof to the gyms. I took some screen shots of a few of the gyms there and it needs an organized raid party to take these down.

Lol some of these names are just random numbers.

Lol at this point as an valor player, Mystic also have their headquarter and have a lot of lvl 10 gyms when you take that down it immediatly full! I can't do anything against bot! I just stop gyms fight at the moment!

Just an update, looks like we already have 4 or 5 L35+ players who want to meet up (under L35, you're more than welcome too)! So far it's looking like Saturday 3:00 or 4:00 PM is going to be the time. Exact location TBD, but probably somewhere near the Starbucks, (next to the top of the subway platform), or at the Public Safety office.

I'm L37 and my friend, Maybelievenyc, who is L40 (and knows just about every body in this damn city! lol) is helping assemble the crew!
