What is his best/most useful moveset? Double steel or double bug?

What do you suggest a double steel moveset Scizor should be used against? Or are you suggesting it as a defender (which strikes me as not a good idea)?

Rather have double steel than double bug because there are much more Dragonites than Exeggutors in gyms.

Yeah, but there are much better mons for taking down a Dragonite than a double steel Scizor.

Double bug was my first attempt, then I evolved other 2 trying to go for double steel, failed twice and eventually decided to power up the double bug one.

It's not only extremely useful against Exxeggutor but even agains Espeon if you don't have a good dark pokemon.

Thanks for mentioning the Espeon use - both my good Scizors got BP/Nightslash - the 2nd one went straight to the professor - but NightSlash will at least get SE into psychics, even tho' no STAB.. Still I doubt it's good enough to use.

For me double bug. I have both. Some might argue Steel will deal with Dragonites but IMO there are more specialized Pokémon for that. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful I got the best Steel movesets but in reality, I end up using my double bug Scizor most of the time.

I have a double bug maxed out. I think it is the most efficient Egg killer. It hits insanely hard and resists ( and at times double resists-grass) all moves.

I did also evolve a steel one. I like the singular advantages it has in certain situations but Scizor just isn't very strong. So he isn't optimal imo in any matchup except the Egg one so it's double bug. Oh yeah and FC/XC is great for dodging too.
