Tyranitar Blues

Finally hatched and walked enough to take my Larvitar straight to my level cap. RNG smites me with bite/fireblast. Walk the other I have and use my remaining candy and again. Bite/fireblast. Is this gym usable at all?

Depends on what you want; good defender with good moves no. Bad defender with high CP yes.

It sucks! I keep getting Iron Tail / Fireblast which is only marginally better. Truth is, no Tyranitar is that great as a defender, but they go high in gyms because of their CP.

I've had two Bite / Fireblast Tyranitars stuck in gyms for two weeks now. I was expecting to get them back by now!

B/FB is the equivalent of a DB/HB Dragonite. Is it optimal? No, but does it wreck defenders? Yes it does. Is it better than IT/FB? Very much so.

I agree with this. I think that the fact that FB covers the majority of his weaknesses (bug, fire, grass), compared to other move types, is kind of cool.

I was a little more fortunate; got b/fb first and then got b/se. If I had gotten b/fb again I would be saving up for a third. I still think b/FB is cool; I would be annoyed if the second outcome was also b/fb if I was hoping for a different moveset.. :/

Yeah, I understand the reasoning behind it, but Tyranitar can also learn Flamethrower which would have been so much better for a defensive counter move. Thunderbolt would have also been an awesome option to cover the water weakness.
