Is Niantic ignoring Easter like Niantic ignored St. Patrick's Day???

Normally Niantic starts its holiday special a few days before the holiday AND notifys of the event 2 - 3 days before the start date of the event. There has been no notice for an Easter event six (6) days before Easter!!!
I hope I am wrong but Niantic may be ignoring the Easter holiday...
This may also be enforced by Japan's Pokemon and Nintendo because Pokemon Go is out marketing their other commercial games..... Remember, Niantic's profits take away from Japan's Pokemon profits. Japan's Pokemon doesn't want the American Niantic's Pokemon Go to have too much profitable success. Telling Niantic not to recognize American special holidays would upset the US and American Pokemon Go trainers and lower Niantic's popularity//profits!!
A definite thought to ponder... Also, the one employee's statements about the respected forums of Reddit, Gamepress, Silphroad, etc. are toxic and he personally does not read is not the PR (public relations) that Niantic would promote... You can bet that Niantic was upset with that man!!!

I loved Water-fest. I would prefer future events to not be so religiously affiliated.

As someone who lives in a non-water biome, I loved the water event also. Players that live in a water biome don't understand just how hard it is to get 400 magikarp candies just for 1 single (possible bad moves) evolve. It's the only 400 candy evolve in the game. My friend who was lvl 34 (now 35) was able to get her first gyarados from that event, and that is not an uncommon situation here at all. I wonder if our biome will ever get a 400 candy evolve mon ?

How about a Mountain Festival, for those of us who live in a water biome and barely see Rhyhorns, Larvitar, Clefairy, etc?

Up

I bet they will! Just a matter of when. Don't think they'll add larvitar though cuz they didn't add dratini during the water event, well at least here anyways (I've heard they increased them in water biomes for only the first couple hours of that event).. And it would be nice, just for balance, if rhyhorn were an 1/8th as common during that event as magikarp was during the water event simply cuz you only need 50 for a Rhydon vs 400. But yeah, why not spread the love :)

They did, indeed. Granted me with one more Dragonite :P
And yeah, assuming they do such event, they probably won't increase Larvitar spawns by much, if at all... But I'd still be happy to see more Rhyhorns that the ones I got from eggs. Makes for a nice change of scenery...

Besides, I can't wait to see what a rhyhorn/rhydon hat would look like! Lol

Halloween, Christmas and Easter lost most, if not all, of their religious affiliation for a lot of people.
This of course varies between countries and families, but still...

Up

What? According to what? I'm not religious in the least, but I'd have to say you're wrong.

Up

Agree, no reason to make events linked to religious festivities. The world is too diverse to only pay attention to a tiny portion of the cake

I don't see what's wrong with, say, an event during easter? Even if you don't celebrate easter, the event will also benefit you as a PLAYER and it's not like there will be any religious campaign or something like that

We just had an event!! An event where Lapras ran amok and Dratini too on the first day! Lol we all got an extra Gary or 2 some w/ a Shiny one! A event will come possibly w/ Togetics requiring all of your berries by and ultra balls as tribute during this event.

Up

I still don't have a Lapras, they were still nowhere to be seen and I was out a lot... No shiny either!

Most of us have saved up 10k eggs (and even some spare Dratini/Larvitar/Chansey) hoping to have a double candy event. If they don't put out an event soon, we'll just hatch all of them, to give ourselves something to celebrate. Such as 4 Pinecos in a row.

Up

Well, saving up 10k eggs is pretty bad for your overall gameplay experience as it bottlenecks you on XP and dust... so I can't really feel bad for the people doing that with hopes of a double candy event especially given that we JUST had one AND they never said anything about an event, Easter-themed or otherwise.

Up

you build up 6 10km eggs leaving 3 slots so you don't loose anything then in the last day or 2 before said event any extra you might also bank i have a full card and probably have missed about 200 meters at most.

Up

Why do you save 10k eggs? It seems to me every time I use five incubator to clear up the eggs, I got four or five 10k eggs. It is not that rare to get 10k egg anymore.

Up

Still, having some 10k eggs at the beginning of a double candy event is better than having 9 5k eggs.

You're forgetting to consider all the candy you could have received from eggs that could have been incubating in the spots blocked by the unincubated 10 K eggs. If you've been saving them long enough, that's a LOT more candy than the doubled ones, especially when you add them to whatever candy you get from the fresh eggs collected during the event..

Up

Yes, but that's candy for mostly irrelevant stuff.
I'd rather have double candy for a potential Snorlax, Chansey, Larvitar or even Dratini, than double Paras / Poliwag / Psyduck / Ponyta / other common garbage candy. Overall, 10k candy is much more valuable than 5k candy, and, imo, worth the "risk". If I end up with 9 Pineco (or other crap), well so be it, that's still not worse than 20 Paras (or other crap)...

I will agree that it's a loss when it comes to stardust, but it's by far the easiest resource to obtain, so...

Besides, though this does not apply to everyone, there isn't much interesting stuff in this migration in my town (besides one Cyndaquil nest in a remote area), and gym turnover is non existant (thanks to a well known spoofer that hasn't been dealt with)... So I currently have very little incentive to go out and play, besides sitting at a 4 lure spot and farm dust...

Pokemon is popular with or without Americans. Seeing as how Nintendo backs Pokemon, and therefore, Niantic, the American population does not matter. What Americans want is not going to make or break PoGo. Quit being so naïve as to think America is the be all/end all of the world.

Niantic has never said there will be an Easter event, it's only fan speculation. As usual fan expectations are out of control on this. Although, Niantic is partially to blame because their poor communication creates a void that gets filled by wishful thinking. I think if there were to be an Easter event we would know it by now.

Niantic never mentioned any event beforehand. They announced the Valentine's Day event and the Water Festival event on the same day the event will start.

It makes no sense to think that Japan's Pokémon Co. and Nintendo would sabotage/not allow Niantic to hold a St. Patrick Day event or Easter event... These Pokémon games work in synergy. Marketing and advertisement done by Niantic for PoGo benefits other Pokémon games and vice versa. All Pokémon games raises Pokémon awareness so it's mutually beneficial.

It's not black and white where if a player plays PoGo, they won't play other Pokémon games. So stop spreading your conspiracy theory that the Japanese is preventing the Americans from having an Easter event.

Having an event is a special, not a norm. Ungrateful players have come to expect events for every single holiday. I didn't hear anyone complain there was no event for Chinese New Year, which is a holiday celebrated by like 1/6 of the entire global population. Easter, just like Valentine's Day, is a Hallmark/Chocolate/Candy holiday promoted by these corporations so they can make an extra buck out of something originally sacred and revered by Christians.

I agree that there should have been a Chinese New Year event.... I asked for one ( I presumed that the holiday picture was for all New Year celebration) Each event spawns purchase of coins.. Chocolate or other money makers...Lol.
No conspiracy intended.. just know competitive business behavior... a human element....
So glad trainers responded with a thoughtful discussion.

When have they ever announced an event 2-3 days before it started? They'll likely announce it sometime tomorrow morning, start it around 4pm PST, and have it run for a week (exactly like they did with Water Event).

Up

This is exactly what I was thinking. Both the water event and Valentine's Day event were announced the day of the event, and then started at 10 AM-1 PM PST. They both started on a Wednesday too, by the way, so I'm expecting that if there's an Easter event it will be announced Wednesday morning PDT. If not, Thursday is still a possibility.

Imagine if they DID a Chinese New Year event? Since Chinese people like Dragons and Dragon symbols (I don't mean to stereotype or offend any readers of Chinese descent), maybe it would have been an event with increased Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Aerodactyl, Gyarados, etc. spawns. Who cares about Easter event, I want Chinese New Year event!

Gotta say, I like this idea. Those are some cool mons, especially charizard and gyarados...

St. Patrick's Day was ignored because it's only famous in the US. Most people don't celebrate it.

Sure, you can say that to Halloween as well, but unlike St. Patrick's Day, Halloween is beginning to become popular globally because there are parallel occasions in other cultures like in Latin America, which is Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). In my country, we also remember the dead on that day, though my country is in Southeast Asia.

Most people know Easter the same way most people know Christmas, even though both are Christian in nature.

Up

Australia has celebtrated St Paddy's day for as long as I can remember.
Halloween is only just starting to be 'celebrated' by a very small fraction.
We don't and I can't imagine we ever will celebrate Thanksgiving.

Up
0
Down

But you know about it from movies. That is at least my case. St. Patrck don't strike me as particulary present in pop culture. Valabtine is, Christmas/New year is, Halloween is. Not so Easter, indeed. But Easter is masive in Europe and South America.

Up

Down

Of all the one's listed, Thanksgiving is the most parochial of them all. It means nothing to me or others in my country or most other countries.
If I was to make a game, I wouldn't expect people to need an 'Australia Day' event.

Nearly every country on the planet will have an 'Irish Bar' that is celebrating St Paddy's day - the same can not be said of Thanksgiving. That said, I completely understand why St Paddy's day isn't worthy of an event, and I never thought it warranted one.

Also there are lots of things I know about from movies that are not relevant in my life, and/or don't deserve an in game event.

(...none of that means your comment needs to be downvoted either)

We're talking about a game were you hatch eggs and collect candy...
I mean... They kind of have to do something for easter...

Regarding your rant about US vs Japan: they did a Thanksgiving event, so... Debunked?

Up

When did Easter became a holiday to hatch eggs and collect candies? Again, it's marketing by Hallmark/Chocolate/Candy companies to make money. The "original" Easter was to celebrate resurrection of Jesus Christ. Who cares about eggs and Easter bunnies? All made up stuff to encourage consumers to spend more money.

Up
0
Down

Made up or not, that's what easter is for a lot of people, especially young people.

Up
0

Painting eggs in red is a long long tradition in my eastern europe country. Bunny indeed is not even now something related to Eastern.
In Europe Easter is not a marketing holiday.

I'm pretty sure there'll be an Easter event, announced on the day. Calm down people!

perhaps they feel the water event was enough to not have another event for a while, probably waiting for launch it with gym rework and the next big update, because maybe they feel they will spoon feed much
