Shiny Magikarp trigger maybe?

Ive just catched my 300 XL Magikarp and got the gold fisherman medal. Then, the next Magikarp was shiny (my 1st one). Maybe thats a trigger or just a coincidence...

Yup, after almost 2.000 caught

Sounds about right. I have around 1300 caught and almost 200 xl. Good to know the end is in sight:) still no shiny but caught my 2nd 96% IV. Kind of hesitant to evolve it since I've gotten so many bite/crunch lately. Maybe there is a cap on how many of this moveset you can get...
