All you can do is defend what you have resources for and make sure they are just not worth his while. The spoofing problem only seems to be getting worse though and I wonder over time how many are going to either quit or join the dark side, which will just accelerate the process if that's not what is already happening..

Best way to get at a spoofer?
There's this player who I've known to be a spoofer for quite sometime. He takes over gyms at closed secure areas at night and has also retaken gyms while I'm right there in a deserted area. But recently he's decided to expand the number of gyms or the location, but he's taking over all the gyms my teammates and I have been defending. A couple of my friends gave up because we just can't compete against someone who can take any gym anywhere at anytime. Today I went out to find his big gyms to bring them down. But he jus retakes them immediately. I know of 26 gyms he maintains and I'm sure there must be more beyond what I've seen driving around.
Is there anything you can really do to make things at least a bit difficult for a spoofer? I imagine if they can go to any gym, then every pokestop is also available to them so they have unlimited revives and potions also whereas my bag gets exhausted and you know the way Pokémon won't give you what you need so it takes me forever to revive and heal
I'm thinking of just giving up on the game and getting into a spoofing war with this guy no longer caring if I get banned because I feel like quitting anyway. So frustrating

Once you start spoofing yourself, you'll probably just end up quitting anyways...(or worst, banned).
I'd just keep reporting and maybe maintain a few "easier" location wise gyms or work with friends and strat them all up and stick as many Blisseys as you can all muster.
Even if he spoofs, if he has to take 30 minutes - 60 minutes for level 10 gym, that's still 30 - 60 minutes of his or her time.
I'm a solo player though so I'd probably just end up giving up on gyms personally against a spoofer...
If you have friends, you can make his life much much worst in terms of time. If you have say 4 guys who know how to play and can train up a gym, stick something you can all gastlystrat, take it to 32k prestige within 5 - 10 minutes. Place 4 Chanceys or Blisseys or Snorlax and let him take them back daily...
More people would make the training faster and you can stack the gyms.
I assume if this is affecting everyone, they'd all have an incentive to "beat" this guy or make his life/time worst...
personally i think being content with smaller number of gyms and avoiding fighting with the spoofer gyms is the best tacktic , trying to have 10+ gyms and 100 coins is kinda greedy while in this situation , plus you have friends to play with which is good , i would say focus on 2 or 3 gyms , make them stable and strong and be content with them , keep in mind the spoofer get nothing more than the 100 coins so the rest is just personal vengeance
