Once shiny, always shiny.

I came across my first shiny Magikarp today and decided to run some tests to see what someone could do without the karp loosing its shiny form.

You can run away from the encounter and click on it again. You can run away, close and open the game (hard reset). You can run away, move out of the range of the spawn and come back again. You can run away, catch another pokemon and come back. You can run away, spin a pokestop and come back.

Did all the five tests above and the karp was still shiny at the end. Basically you can only lose a shiny if it despawns, run away from you, or turns into a Ditto.

Nice. I would have to laugh if the karp had despawn while you where making the tests though.

I saw it spawning, so I knew I had plenty of time. ;)
Probably wouldn't do the tests otherwise.

I wonder if anyone has had a shiny Magikarp turn into a ditto. That would be awful, only saved by the in game sound effect of Vader's "NOOOOOOOOO!"

I've read some reports of that happening.
I hope these Dittos turn into shiny when their shiny version is unlocked. Would bring some relieve to those poor players.

I found and caught my first shiny karp today. The strange thing was that it wasn't shiny for my wife but was the same lvl, iv's, cp, etc. But she had already found a shiny before so is it only one shiny per person or is it normal for it to be shiny for only one person?
