Since when are level 10 gyms able to get to 62k???

Has anyone come across this? I just recently saw a gym in my neighborhood that was a level 10 but had 62k...I thought the highest prestige was able to go was 52k, am I missing something????

For evey new mon on a gym, the prestige rises for 2k.
If someone prestige a gym to 50k with only one mon defending, it'll have 9 open slots. When more people come to fill the slots, the gym can go up to 68k prestige.

But... every prestige past 50k is counted as 1k and will go back to 50k if you defeat a single mon. So, if you beat one mon from this 62k gym, it'll go to 50k.

It was fully prestiged up before it was filled...as players put in defenders then the prestige level went up.

Once you attack it, then it will instantly drop down to 50K anyway...so theoretically you could drop it from 62k down to 40k in a single pass.

Do you get extra experience for the 62k-50k prestige or it's still 100exp per mon?

On a side note, I wish that you could take a gym to 60k to discourage shavers. (Still only 10 Mon allowed though.)

I've always wonder why people overpretige the gym.

You get 16k putting in pokemon 2-9, and then 2k for that level 10 gym one.

Which means realistically 34k with 8 spots, is enough to make a level 10 gym (with normal 52k prestige)

This person prestiged the Gym to 44k, I've seen people even prestige to 50k.

I guess I could understand going to level 9, 40k if only for appearances and lack of math. But if you are powering up a Gym don't you have to know a completely empty level 9 gym will be 10 when filled??

They are usually using some form of bubblestrat, so it doesn't take them too much extra time/potions and they are still gaining extra experience for it.
