If I ATTACK a gym let's say level 7. I beat all pokemon with my 6 pokemon all exactly 2500 CP. And enemy let's say all 7 exactly 2800. I down gym by X Prestige.
Now If I beat exactly the same 7 2800 enemies but with 6 pokemon let's say 1800. Do I down gym prestyve by X+N?
Prestige works the same for attacking and defending? If so I don't see why one should MAX CP attackers. That would be not that good. You should only MAX up defenders.
Prestiging and attacking are different. When attacking, gyms are reduced by a flat 1000 for each mon fainted regardless of the CP of your mons with an additional 1000 bonus for clearing the gym.
Ideally while prestiging you want your mon half the cp for the maximum of 1000 prestige reward, with 100 being the minimum if your mon is double the CP of the enemy.
