Reconsidering my naming method
Hi guys, I'm considering renaming my pokes as at current I name them like this:
"Snorlax 86D" this meaning the IV is 86% and the D is for best defensive moveset according to Pogomoves.com.
So another example would be "Vaporeon 91A" the best attack movesets. If the movesets are neither best attack or defence I label it "Flareon 77-"
Any tips or advise to improve this?

Its very useful, particularly for prestigers, to know what the moves are - there is no way of checking this otherwise when you are selecting your team at the gym. e.g. I use Fury Cutter/X scissor parasects for prestiging against grass type, but Fury Cutter / solar beam for attacking Vaporeon and Rhydon. Same goes for my main attackers: Against Blissey, Vaporeon or Rhydon I prefer Exeggutor with Solar beam charge moves, but if someone is stupid enough to leave Machamp in the gym, I want to reach for a pure Psychic Exeggutor (it destroys them and resists their fighting moves). So I find it more useful to use leading characters that help sort them alphabetically into groups, followed by initials for the moves. I leave the IVs out because it doesn't really matter for attackers or prestigers (just favorite them so you can't accidentally transfer a 98%!).
I like my prestigers to sort to the front of the list when I sort pokemon alphabetically, hence use a leading "," or ",," for the lowest CP ones, then I use the general type (ice,Bug, Wtr etc so that they sort into groups_:
,aaIce/FB/B (frost breath blizzard, e.g. for Dewgong or Cloyster)
,aaBug/BB/XS (bug bite/x scissor, e.g. for Parasect)
,aaGrs/FC/SB (Fury cutter/solar beam, e.g. for Parasect)
I use Unicode symbols for each type, and put them next to the mon's name to know which moves it has when I've got to pick my team (I put none if they have a defensive moveset). I use favourites to know which mons have 82%+ IVs, as I don't need to know the exact percentage anyway.
I find this really effective and it looks neat - I wouldn't like to identify my beloved mons with a string of numbers anyway.
I use: IV/moves/level
Eg. 91/WGHP/30
Simply because I stop leveling attackers once they hit 30. So I use the level to keep track of where they are.
If you try to edit the name, you have to backspace to the portion you want to edit. Therefore, IV and moves wont change so they should be at the extreme left of the name. Whereas, level of the pokemon does change, so its at the extreme right for ease of editing.
Breakdown of the IV, not that important IMO. If you only level high IV stuff, the difference is minimal
Indeed: In addition to my basic scheme, I keep disposable mons (e.g. Murkrows above CP 700) at the very front of my alphabetically sorted list by naming them all ",,aaDispose". That way if you are just prestiging against say, just one or two mons below a Blissey in the gym, I choose the appropriate 2 attackers first then fill out the rest from the front row of disposables in the list super quickly (and then transfer them later if they feint)
I like to shorten the name to usually the first 4 letter then in front designate it with a symbol to classify it as one of my counters, prestigures, or defenders. I use √ for counters, which for me is max level and/or CP to take it down the fastest or most efficiently. Then put the first letter of the counter Infront of that symbol. I use @ for the prestigures and # for the defenders. After the first 4 letters of the name I just use a symbol separating it from the moveset but it also tells which IV group they are in. I use * for 100% , ~ for 97-82%, ÷ for 80-66%, × for 61-54%, • for 51-0%. Then I put 2 letters for each move. This way when i sort by name it will general attackers , general prestigures, and then the pack of defenders, below that will be be specific counters and prestigures group together according to who the counter or prestige. So I just have to scroll down and see if I have one in the desired range I am looking for. So let's say I want to take down a Dragonite, now just doing this blind didn't send a suicide squad in, I sort my mons scroll down to D it has I can either pick from the counters or the prestigures. Enemy gym so I pick the most efficient, low on pots, so I pick the highest cloyster with FbBz or Av I got. It would look like this D√CloyFbBz .When presitiging depend on the gym order or diversity I would look at the general ones on top, Wigglyies, Vapes Chanceys, Snors, And Sites I have first. To use on 2 or 3 adversaries in a row on. Also I have grouped sets that I prestige my gyms with like a high Heracross w/CoCC with a Syther w/AsAa or a Rhy w/MsEq against a Tang w/VwSoB. I use a Greek alphabet letter on the end of these,∆π¥¢€£, so I can find the matching pair. My defenders I know that their stamina and defense stats are high my attackers Att is the highest, prestigures I try to be balanced as possible. Don't really need the exact numbers all the time. I'd rather be able see the full moveset the exact IV%. Hope this might give you a few ideas on your renaming process. Good luck and Best wishes. Oh yeah forgot the lvl 30 shukles ,onix, Cloysters and other poor IV and moveset I have come across to just dodge with ,until I see the Moveset the defenders have ,marked with ! For suicide squad also grouped together bit not on top I just usually assume they have best defending.
I battle gyms a lot, and I have a lot of Pokémon (1000 storage) so I need to sort quickly when setting my battle lineups.
So I rename them with a "$" if they're a primary attacker, "@" if they're a prestiger, and "AA" if they are cannon fodder. (Cannon fodder = Pokémon I intend to use in battle once, then transfer)
So for Example my attacking Dragonite with DB/DC is: $dragon
My 2220cp Venasaur is: $grass
My 1100cp Venasaur is: @grass
A Azumarill with bubble/HP is AAwater
So when I'm attacking, I sort by name and use the $ Pokémon. Or the AA Pokemon if I'm trying to save potions.
When prestiging, I use the @ Pokémon
I don't bother with renaming my Defenders...because I just sort by CP, and all my defenders are the ones with highest CP (for the most part)
And when I'm just trying to look at my Pokémon, I sort by # so that each type are together, regardless of if they have special names.
