Rework idea; return all dust?

Wouldn't people love getting all their dust back once, like all the dust they spent as of yet, I'm not sure if it's even possible but all the pokemon that got invested in and got nerfed, all that dust alone would be great to get back, and the candy too ofc, so the mons would be sent to their original level and you allready know which ones you want to power up right? So even mistakes you made as a noob player are not set in stone as they are now!

I don't know if level 40+ players will enjoy spending so much time powering up all their mons though lol

This wouldn't be fair to people who played conservatively and saved their dust/candies instead of dumping it on anything just to sit in a gym.

I wouldn't want this to happen even though I have 2 maxed Lapras which has been mostly on the sidelines.

I assume if they made it 1 Pokemon max per year or something, maybe that would be ok so dust wasters won't get everything back, but my guess is any data you spent on dust is long gone and they won't be able to retrieve it.

Yeah I think the data might be gone too, and yes it is true the ones who did hold out so long and saved up would be disadvantaged by not taking risks and earning pokecoins this way

I think it would be fun if they let you reduce a single mon or two to lv 20 one time after the gym shake up and it returned candy and dust. Irregardless of whether you actually powered it or not. Just as a meta shake up bonus. This wouldn't be too unfair to those that saved much either.

No, but I would appreciate some flexibility for players to respond to changes. The fact that players dread unannounced "re-balancing" updates is because of the inflexibility in the game.

By flexibility I mean TMs or the ability to re-roll moves ;D

My maxed out Alakazam with PC/Psychic and my maxed out Charizard with WA/FB say +1 to this :D

So you had two very good attackers for a given time.

Another player held back his dust and candy and did not have so good attackers. He had to use more time and potions when attacking.

Will this player get back his potions and time, when you get back your dust and your chance to reroll?

The introduction of re-rolling will eliminate the need to "hold off" all together because players will no longer be overly concerned about uncertainty.

I personally find this "holding off" aspect of the game unhealthy because it makes risk-adverse players hesitate to power up Pokemon despite having adequate resources. This makes the game stagnant in a sense and doesn't even make financial sense for Niantic. This is a Pokemon game not a stock market simulator game. Players shouldn't be given too much of an incentive for "holding off" but should instead be encouraged to power up Pokemon as soon as they have enough resources.

However, I do feel that TMs or re-rolling must only be rewarded in exchange for effort. For example, a re-roll should perhaps cost as much dust / candies as fully evolving a new Pokemon.

I agree that using even 125 candies to reroll moves is probably worth it in many cases since at times, it's hard to find a high IV candidate to evolve. I never got a decent Machop since playing till maybe a month ago from a hatch (still not evolved yet due to "Save your candies!") so if you ended up with the steel moves, it's not useful at all against Blissey.

For Pokemon that don't evolve, maybe it can cost 50 candies or something. 50 Snorlax candies is still quite a bit.

I'd definitely do mons like Eevees and their evolutions since candy is plentiful, but maybe they can make everything min 100 even...25 is better for everyone of course. :)

I'm hoping it won't use stardust though.

I agree it shouldn't be that easy, maybe they can incorporate walking too or you need to battle 50 times or whatever...but some mons, like Dragonite/Snorlax/Tyranitar, it probably isn't an issue to walk since those are top candidates to walk anyways.

No. Strictly no.

To spend dust (and candy) on a pokemon is a decision, and this decision has consequences: Dust is spend (away) and pokemon is bigger.

You know that moves can change, you know that you might find a better pokemon tomorrow. You make a risk-based decision and take full consequences. This feels right for me. Something, many kids and even many adults did not learn, but maybe a game helps them to.

With your idea, you would punish those who keep some dust.
